⚠️ SEASON FINALE: "BEACON CHOICE" ⚠️
Week 9 of 9 - This is it. The climax. The moment where Danny Baskets stands at hole 18, return ticket in hand, and decides whether growing up means going back or staying to carry what matters.
*adjusts headset with reluctant 80s mentor energy*
🎯 NEW BASKETS FUND: 77% COMPLETE! 🎯
While Danny decides what to carry, we're in the home stretch of building something permanent. Every round you play contributes to the $6,750 goal for new baskets at Beacon Hill.
$5,197.50 raised / $6,750 goal - We're SO close. This is the real win, folks. Course improvements last forever. Let's finish this.
Welcome back to "Bag @ Beacon Hill", the nine-week slapstick parody of Big (1988) where a 12-year-old disc golf fanatic named Danny Baskets made a wish at a Zoltar machine and woke up as a touring professional with a 25-pound bag, a caddie who calls him "boss," and absolutely no idea how to navigate sponsor meetings. *sighs in training montage*
I've been trapped in this broadcast booth—now forcibly updated with radical 80s action movie DLC—narrating Danny's journey from carnival wish to professional crisis. And tonight? Tonight is hole 18. The legendary "betrayal hole" where his pro self supposedly threw away a championship with a bad driver choice. This time, Danny's got the return ticket. He can go back to being 12. Or he can stay and prove that the best pros are the ones who never forgot how to play.
- When: Wednesdays, flex start 6:20 AM to 6:20 PM (choose your own adventure timing—everyone's their own action hero)
- Where: Beacon Hill Park Disc Golf (same course all nine weeks because we're doing Rocky IV training montages on repeat)
- Format: Choose your own card, weekly rankings, bag tag drama
- Started: December 3, 2025 - we've been at this since the carnival came to town
Weekly Investment:
- $5 base entry (goes to course fund and league operations)
- $5 weekly prize pool buy-in
- $5 optional ace pot (currently at $70)
- $2 optional super ace
🎯 About the Ace Pot Guarantee:
ElevateUT Disc Golf (the league platform—NOT the disc shop) guarantees a minimum $50 ace pot. This means early in the week, the displayed pot might look "stuck" at $50 until player contributions exceed that amount. If the pot is below $50 at week's end and someone aces, ElevateUT tops it up to $50 (credited to winner's Bonus Account for future registrations).
Birdcage Disc Golf is our local retail partner/sponsor, but the ace guarantee comes from the platform itself.
This league splits into two pools representing opposing worldviews. Talk to me, Goose... about existential disc golf divisions.
Leader: Marcus "Boss" Calloway - Danny's long-suffering caddie who signed up to carry bags and became a life coach for a kid who thinks sponsor meetings are like parent-teacher conferences.
Philosophy: Every disc in the bag is a choice with consequences. They represent responsibility, experience, and the sobering reality that pro tours aren't magic—they're logistics, strategy, and learning to carry what you've committed to.
Current series leaders: Brian Hansen (RPA, 977 pts), Craig Bennett (RAH, 229 pts), Chris Fox (RAD, 644 pts)
Leader: Danny Baskets himself - a 12-year-old trapped in a touring pro's body who still thinks the hardest part of disc golf is choosing which flavor Gatorade to drink at the turn.
Philosophy: One wish can change everything. They carry oversized bags with naive optimism, convinced being a pro is just about showing up and believing hard enough. They represent the wonder of childhood dreams made suddenly, terrifyingly real.
Current series leaders: Corry Johnson (RAE, 297 pts), Kevin Koga (RAF, 290 pts), William Fetzer (RAG, 179 pts)
Nine weeks ago, Danny found a glowing Zoltar machine near the Beacon Hill lighthouse. He made a wish. He woke up as a pro. Chaos ensued. We've watched him navigate:
- Week 1: The wish and the transformation
- Week 2: Meeting his 25-pound bag and confused caddie
- Week 3: First official round with cameras and reporters
- Week 4: Sponsor circus and accidental endorsement deals
- Week 5: Meeting Vera Chains, another wished-up kid
- Week 6: Rival Ace Mandate's public challenge
- Week 7: Pocket the caddie's existential revelation
- Week 8: Finding the Zoltar machine and the return ticket
- Week 9 (TONIGHT): Hole 18. The choice. Stay or go back.
*VHS tracking lines intensify* This narrative's so 80s, I'm expecting a Ferrari to drive down the fairway.
📊 LAST WEEK'S INTEL ("Zoltar Found")
17 players showed up. Average score: -1. Danny found the machine. The return ticket printed. No aces, so the pot rolls to tonight's finale at $70.
The stage is set. The disc is in Danny's hand. The return ticket is in his pocket. What happens next is up to him—and you.
While Danny decides what to carry, we're 77% toward $6,750 for permanent course improvements. New baskets. Better equipment. A legacy that lasts beyond any single season.
Every round you play contributes. Every throw matters. This isn't just about weekly prizes or bag tag rankings—this is about building something that stays.
Growing up isn't about age. It's about choosing what burdens to accept. And tonight, we're choosing to invest in the course that made this whole ridiculous season possible.
- Show up to Beacon Hill anytime between 6:20 AM and 6:20 PM on Wednesday
- Register and pay entry fees
- Choose your own card (flex start format)
- Play your round, record your score
- Contribute to the new baskets fund with every throw
- Watch Danny's story conclude (metaphorically—through your own experience on hole 18)
Late joiners welcome! Week 9 means you can still jump in, play the finale, and help us hit that 100% funding goal. *sighs in training montage* Everyone loves a comeback story.
Facilitated by ElevateUT Disc Golf - a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to growing disc golf through increasing the quantity and quality of our venues and running events. We're the ones making sure Danny's metaphorical journey translates to actual course improvements.
Supported by Birdcage Disc Golf - our local retail partner keeping you stocked with discs, gear, and the occasional reality check about what's actually in your bag.
*adjusts aviators one last time*
Week 9. Hole 18. Danny Baskets with a return ticket and a choice. You, with a disc and a course that needs better baskets.
Growing up isn't about age. It's about what you're willing to carry. Let's finish this season strong—and hit that 100% funding goal while we're at it.
From the booth, I'm Flippy. See you at the chains.
