About This League
Week 9 FINALE at Roots! Vegas doubles championship vibes meet Tuesday reality. Hustler's Table vs Counting House. Tuesdays, flex 7am-6:20pm. $495 ace pot. Definitely, definitely disc golf. 🎰⛓️
Commentary from Flippy (your trapped narrator)
*sighs in training montage*
Welcome to Week 9: Definitely Champions
*adjusts aviators reluctantly* So here we are. The season finale. Nine weeks of watching players count chains like Raymond Babbitt and work angles like Charlie has led us to this moment—the championship round at Roots where brotherhood meets disc golf and I'm still trapped in this 80s action movie aesthetic. The VHS tracking on my aquatic display is getting worse, and I'm definitely, definitely tired of this DLC pack.
🎰 The Hustler's Table (Charlie's Faction)
Divisions: RPA, RAH, RAD
These players thrive on angles, odds, and the thrill of the gamble. Every round is a high-stakes opportunity. They play the player as much as the course, finding victory in calculated risks and reading opponents like marked cards. Charlie's smooth-talking energy meets adaptive play—spontaneity over rigid calculation, gut instinct over mathematical certainty.
"I got an angle on this one. Vegas money, baby."
⛓️ The Counting House (Raymond's Faction)
Divisions: RAE, RAF, RAG
Mathematical precision and routine-driven players who see disc golf as calculable variables. They find comfort in patterns, chain counts, and the predictable physics of perfectly executed throws. Every Tuesday at Roots is a sacred ritual. Every putt is a solved equation. Raymond's savant abilities manifest as structured play and the comfort of knowing exactly how many links hang in every basket.
"Definitely, definitely counting chains. 246 chains. Definitely 246."
📍 The Training Ground: Roots Disc Golf Course
Established 2014 along the Jordan River Parkway (1200 N Redwood Road, SLC), this 18-hole, par-54 layout is where ElevateUT's 501(c)(3) mission of growing disc golf through quality venues and events meets 80s cinema nostalgia. Flat, tree-lined fairways with mature cottonwoods. The river winds along the east side. DGA Mach X baskets. Concrete tee pads. It's actually a solid course—definitely a solid course—which makes the Rain Man parody overlay almost work.
*reluctantly admits* The Tunnel Runners built something good here. Even if we're treating it like a Vegas training facility.
🗓️ Championship Schedule & Stakes
When: Every Tuesday, flex start 7am-6:20pm (because even Raymond's routines have flexibility)
Week 9 of 9: This is THE FINALE. The Vegas doubles championship narrative. The moment Charlie decides whether to exploit or protect. The scene where Raymond counts 47 chains and sinks the championship putt.
Entry Fees:
- $5 base entry (required)
- $5 optional prize pool
- $5 optional ace pot
- $2 optional super ace
- Maximum investment: $17
*talks to you, Goose* The ace pot sits at $495.46 (minimum $50 guaranteed by ElevateUT, the platform—not Another Round). Nobody's hit one yet. The chains remain uncounted by aces. Will the finale change that? Probably not, but the drama is definitely there.
💰 Ace Pot Guarantee Details
ElevateUT Disc Golf (the league platform) guarantees a minimum $50 ace pot. Early in the season, the displayed pot may appear "stuck" at $50 until player contributions exceed the guarantee. Any guarantee top-up goes to the winner's Bonus Account (registration-only; not withdrawable). The disc shop (Another Round) is a retail partner/sponsor only—NOT the ace pot guarantor.
Current pot: $495.46—well above guarantee, all player-contributed. *checks calculator* That's 247 chains worth of ace pot. Definitely 247.
🏆 Series Standings: The Brotherhood Rankings
This Chain Man league is part of ElevateUT's larger 80s action cinema series—multiple courses, multiple "films," one ridiculous narrative universe. Current series leaders heading into the finale:
- RPA: Brian Hansen (965 pts, 49 events) - the veteran who's seen it all
- RAD: Chris Fox (629 pts, 41 events) - consistency incarnate
- RAE: Stephen Dunton (292 pts, 15 events) with Brian Bowling charging up to 3rd
- RAF: Kevin Koga (290 pts, 12 events) - dominant in the calculations
All positions stable heading into finale week. These players have learned to count on their routines. Definitely learned.
*reluctantly delivers pearl of wisdom* Look. This is week 9 of a 9-week buddy comedy about counting chains and splitting wins. You're either already in The Counting House or The Hustler's Table by now. But if you're just discovering this spectacle? Jump in for the finale. All skill levels welcome—the flex start accommodates dawn calculators and dusk hustlers alike. Raymond would approve of the routine flexibility. Charlie would appreciate the last-minute angle.
From the broadcast booth, where I've been trapped in this 80s action DLC for nine weeks learning to deliver disc golf coverage like a training montage, this is your championship finale. The Vegas doubles. The moment of truth. The scene where we discover whether Charlie learned that some wins can't be calculated.
*sighs in synthesized saxophone* Talk to me about your statistical rating differential. Actually, don't. Just throw your plastic at the metal and let's see who survives the finale. Definitely, definitely throw that disc.
This narrative's so 80s, I'm expecting a Ferrari to drive down the fairway. 🎬
