The Bell Tolled and I Answered
Too Stubborn to Stay Buried
When the first competitor was culled in the Deadlands, the frontier's curse forged an iron bell from the discarded revolvers and barbed wire of the fallen. That bell now hangs in the spectral heart of the Deadlands, and every time a competitor is eliminated from any league, it tolls once, its mournful clang carrying across all leagues as a reminder that the weak have been culled and the strong must prove themselves worthy of remembrance.
The Iron Dirge is forged from melted-down revolvers and barbed wire of the fallen, its surface a chaotic lattice of gun barrels and twisted wire frozen in iron. The bell's rim is jagged, like teeth, and its surface is etched with the names of every competitor who has been culled. When it tolls, the Iron Dirge glows with a dull red heat, and the names of the recently culled flicker across its surface in spectral red lettering before fading into the rust. The bell's deep, resonant clang can be heard across all leagues, creating a somber connection between every arena in the Deadlands.
The Iron Dirge serves as the Deadlands' funeral bell, tolling for every culled competitor and reminding survivors that their time is borrowed. Its sound reinforces the series' core doctrine - the weak get culled, the strong get remembered - as each toll marks another soul who failed to prove their worth.

The Iron Dirge is shipping out to the River Bottoms. Red Jones has the tag for the Dead Mans Hand league, which sounds less like a side quest and more like a spinoff waiting to happen. The bell still tolls, but now it echoes off the mud. Consider this your bonus content before we return to regular programming.
