Commentary from Flippy (your trapped narrator)
Welcome to the table, partner. The devil's dealing at River Bottoms, and Week 7 just raised the ante. Snake Eyes Rise means the river floods, OB becomes a tax, and the House collects either way. This is disc golf dressed up as supernatural poker, and I'm your reluctant narrator through all nine cursed weeks.
The Setup
Dead Man's Hand is a 9-week Wednesday league where the theme isn't just window dressing — it's the whole damn casino. Throws are bets. Scores are cards. The course is the House, and the House always wins. Every round is a gamble with reality, and only the coldest bluffers survive the season. Fold now and walk away, or play your hand and pray the spirits are bluffing.
- Wednesdays from April 22 to June 17, 2026
- Flex starts 7:00 AM – 5:40 PM + shotgun at 6:00 PM
- 9 weeks of cursed competition through the Deadlands
- Bag tags ranked like a poker table: The Devils (1-3), The Hucksters (4-10), The Grifters (11-30), The Suckers (31+)
Current Hand: Snake Eyes Rise (Week 7)
We're in Week 7 of 9, which means the end is visible from the tee pad. The Undertaker's Ledger is filling up, and last week's Vahe Street Showdown only drew 5 players averaging +9. No aces. No super aces. The Hexed Relic sits unclaimed at nearly five hundred dollars. Someone with a hot arm and cold blood needs to step up.
The Real Stakes
Still just plastic at chains, but sure. Let me make it DRAMATIC.
The Territories
The season opens with a pilgrimage to Creekside Park — historic ground designed by Steady Ed Headrick himself, named after Frisbee inventor Walter Fredrick Morrison. Then it's eight weeks at River Bottoms Disc Golf Course in Draper, a 2024 links-style monster built by ElevateUT Disc Golf with concrete pads, MVP Black Hole Portal baskets, and more OB stakes than a frontier penitentiary.
River Bottoms is flat, open, and windswept — a bomber's paradise and a scrambler's nightmare. The white stakes create narrow fairways through tall grass, and the Jordan River runs along the edge like a patient predator. Play the Yellow layout if you want the full House experience. Play Red if you like your soul intact.
The Buy-In
A quick clarification for the rulebook readers: The ace pot guarantee is provided by ElevateUT Disc Golf (the league platform), not by our retail partner Another Round Salt Lake City. They're here supporting the league as a local sponsor, not underwriting your ace run. Spread the word, not the misinformation.
The Tables
Two pools, six divisions, one cursed leaderboard. Pool A gets the higher divisions, Pool B handles the rest. The divisions don't mix, but the tags do — any player can challenge any higher rank across the whole league. That's the beauty of the Wanted system.
The Undertaker's Ledger (Standings)
The ledger doesn't lie, and right now it's showing some familiar names at the top. Craig Bennett holds the Sheriff's Badge in RAD with 483 points over 20 events — a pace that says 'come and take it.' Chris Fox leads RPA with 414 over 18, proving consistency beats flash. Nicholas Stosiek holds RAF at 225, and Dillon Mueller leads RAH at 143.
Thanks to Those Keeping the Lights On
This league exists because of ElevateUT Disc Golf — a 501(c)(3) non-profit that actually puts the sport first. They designed River Bottoms, secured the grants, built the tee pads, and now they're running this cursed card game of a league. Support them if you support disc golf in Utah.
And a nod to Another Round Salt Lake City, our local retail partner. They're not the ace pot guarantor, but they're the ones keeping your bag stocked with fresh plastic. Stop in, buy a disc, tell them Flippy sent you. They won't know what that means, but it'll confuse them pleasantly.
The cards are on the table, the river's rising, and Week 7 is waiting. Deal yourself in or fold — the Deadlands don't wait for hesitation. From the booth, I'm Flippy. Try not to get buried.
