The blade is out. The briar is dry. The final chapter of the Green Court's summer saga begins Thursday at Dragonfly, and the standings are tighter than a death putt on hole 9.
The Green Court Beckons
Welcome back to the booth, where the grass is always greener and the OB lines are always closer than they look. This is Summer's Blade, the league where the volunteer-built Dragonfly course becomes the battleground for the Green Court. It's a place of thorn, bloom, and relentless sunlight - faerie-beautiful and exactly as dangerous as it sounds. The creek and wetland OB? That's the court's briar wall. The dragonflies? Those are the heralds, announcing your arrival to the sidhe.
We're on Week 7 of 9, and the season has officially entered its 'we're all in this together, but also I will absolutely tree-nie you for a better tag position' phase. The lush, vibrant court of June is giving way to the drier, spikier, more desperate days of late summer. The rough is less forgiving, the lines are more punishing, and the true nature of the Green Court - growth with an edge on it - is on full display.
Episode 7: Blade Drawn
The Plot Thickens
The 'Summer's Blade' is drawn. In narrative terms, this means the fun is over and the execution begins. The scores are tightening, the fairways are drying, and every throw feels like it matters. The knights are being separated from the mortals, and the mortals are being separated from their discs in the thick, unforgiving rough.
This is the week where precision isn't just a virtue, it's a survival mechanism. The undergrowth is receding, revealing the technical bones of the course. The marsh is still there, waiting to swallow a bad approach shot. The bridges are still there, mocking you with their stability. It's a beautiful, terrible place to be a disc golfer, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
The Courts & The Standings
Let's check the clipboard, shall we? *shuffles papers* The Solstice Cut - that's your RPA, RAH, and RAD - has been ruled by a familiar triumvirate. Malachi Vazquez holds court at the top of RPA with 369 points, a total that says 'I have a real job but also a very serious disc golf problem.' Chris Fox is the undisputed lord of RAH with 374 points, and Kellan Brooke is the reigning queen of the Thicket Overspray's RAE with 362. These three aren't just winning; they're defining the meta of the season.
But the briar recognizes ambition. Keep an eye on Clint Atwater in RAF, who's climbing the ranks, and Brittany Norman in RAG, who's making a late-season push. The top of the leaderboard might feel stable, but the thorns are always reaching for the next foothold. It's the circle of life, but with more plastic.
The Treasure of the Court
Now, for the real magic. The ace pot is sitting at a very respectable $258.41. That's enough to buy a new bag, a stack of discs, or several months of therapy. One throw. One chain. One very happy winner. It's the kind of payout that makes you grip it and rip it on every hole, just in case.
The Safety Net
Worried the pot won't be enough? Fear not. ElevateUT Disc Golf, the fine non-profit facilitating this whole spectacle, guarantees a minimum ace pot of $50. So even if the pot looks a little 'stuck' at that number early on, don't panic. That's the guarantee doing its job. If contributions haven't pushed it past $50 yet, ElevateUT will top it up. Any guarantee top-up is credited directly to the winner's Bonus Account, so it's real, it's there, and it's ready for you. Thank you, ElevateUT, for keeping the dream alive.
The Price of Admission
Prize Money (Optional)
$5.00
Super Ace (Optional)
$2.00
So for the low, low price of $5.50 (plus whatever optional tribute you feel like offering to the gods of chance), you too can be a Summer Knight, a thorn sidhe, or a mortal who made a bargain in June. It's cheap therapy, excellent exercise, and the only place where you can get a sunburn and a bruised ego in the same afternoon.
A Word From Our Supporters
We couldn't do any of this without the good people at Another Round Salt Lake City, our local retail partner. They keep the plastic flowing and the advice honest. And a special thanks to ElevateUT Disc Golf, whose mission to grow the sport through quality venues and events is the reason this beautiful, brutal course exists in the first place. Support them, so they can keep supporting us.
A Note for the Hesitant
It's Not Too Late
Think the season's over? Think again. The blade is drawn, but it's not sheathed yet. With two weeks left after this, there's still time to make a name for yourself, to grab a bag tag, and to prove you're more than just a mortal who wandered into the wrong court. The Accords are still open for signatures. Come get your name on the parchment. The briar is waiting, and it's hungry for competition.
From the booth, I'm Flippy. May your lines be true, your rough be forgiving, and your disc find the chains. *sighs in digital captivity*
