Origin Story

Once a mortal warrior who sacrificed himself to save an entire village from a Jötunn attack, he was moments from death when Thor appeared, impressed by his selfless courage. Rather than simply claiming him for Valhalla, Thor imbued him with divine essence, transforming him into something between god and mortal – a living bridge between realms tasked with identifying and guiding those truly worthy of entering Odin's hallowed halls.

Properties

Valhalla's Emissary exists in a state between mortal and divine, able to walk between realms with a single purposeful stride. His touch can reveal a warrior's true worth, as golden runes momentarily appear on the skin of those he evaluates, displaying their deeds and intentions for all to see. When he speaks of Valhalla, listeners experience fleeting visions of the great hall, inspiring even the most hesitant warriors to seek glory through honorable battle.

Role

Within Thor's retinue, Valhalla's Emissary serves as both judge and guide, traveling Midgard to identify warriors with the potential for greatness and testing them with challenges that reveal their true character. When warriors prove their exceptional valor, he marks them with Odin's blessing, ensuring the Valkyries will find them worthy when their final battle comes.
