FINALE: Ferris Bueller's Way Off concludes Thu 7AM-6:20PM at Dragonfly. Comic book skip-day heist meets wooded disc golf. $315 ace pot. Thread the tunnel, sprint home. 🎬🌲
Week 4 · Rooney Hunts
The trio arrives at Dragonfly and begins their round, unaware that Rooney is closing in. Every tee pad becomes a potential ambush site. Ferris plays with reckless confidence while Cameron jumps at every snapping twig. They spot Rooney's car in the parking lot and realize the game has changed—this isn't just disc golf anymore, it's survival.
*adjusts aviators reluctantly* *VHS tracking lines distort the broadcast feed*
Welcome back to the finale of Ferris Bueller's Way Off (In the Woods), where we've spent nine weeks chronicling the greatest skip-day heist in disc golf history. I'm Flippy, your reluctant 80s action mentor, and my aquatic display tank has been forcibly updated with leather jacket DLC against my will. Talk to me, Goose... about whether this narrative was worth two months of my life.
"Life moves pretty fast. Miss the fairway and you might miss everything."
Ferris Bueller wakes to a perfect spring morning and makes a decision: there's no way he's going to school when Dragonfly—the legendary, ultra-wooded course an hour outside the city—is calling his name. What follows is a nine-chapter comic book adventure of borrowed equipment, elaborate alibis, and impossible tunnel shots.
He cons Cameron into "borrowing" his dad's pristine vintage disc bag (complete with a mint 1986 Roc that must NOT be thrown), drags Sloane out of class with a fake family emergency, and leads them deep into Dragonfly's tree-choked fairways. But Principal Rooney is onto them—appearing at every tee pad, forcing our heroes to dodge, scheme, and somehow still card decent scores.
The course becomes an 18-hole heist: fake scorecards left as decoys, a mannequin in a letterman jacket propped at the school practice basket, and enough close calls to fill a comic book anthology. It all comes down to the final tunnel shot—a tight, tree-lined gauntlet where Ferris must pure the line, tap in for par, and sprint home before his parents pull into the driveway.
Rendered in bold comic book style with action lines, speech bubbles, and dramatic panels. John Hughes meets disc golf chaos.
*sighs in synthesized saxophone* And here we are. The final Thursday. The last flex start window. The climactic putt before the credits roll.
When: Thursday, January 29, 2025
Flex Start Window: 7:00 AM - 6:20 PM (choose your own tee time)
Where: Dragonfly Disc Golf Course, Lehi, Utah
Dragonfly has been our only venue for all nine weeks—a wooded wetland course with narrow fairways, marshy edges, and dense foliage. No elevation to speak of, but the trees don't care about your excuses. Every gap is a test. Every tunnel shot is a dare. This is where legends are made and vintage Rocs are chipped.
The Skip Day Syndicate (RPA, RAH, RAD)
The bold rebels who believe life moves too fast to waste on attendance sheets and hall passes. They embrace the chaos of the heist, the thrill of the borrowed disc, and the glory of puring impossible tunnel shots while authority figures lurk behind every tree.
Rooney's Detention Squad (RAE, RAF, RAG)
The relentless enforcers who believe every throw must be accounted for, every scorecard verified, and every suspicious 'sick day' investigated. They patrol Dragonfly's fairways with clipboard intensity, determined to catch truants mid-putt.
Both pools play the same Dragonfly layout. Both face the same wooded gauntlet. The only difference is whether you're running from authority or enforcing it. Either way, you're throwing plastic at metal chains while I narrate from this VHS-corrupted broadcast booth.
*checks series leaderboard through VHS static* This league is one "movie" in ElevateUT's 80s action cinema series. Across the franchise, Brian Hansen leads RPA with 1,172 points over 59 events (that's commitment to the bit), while Chris Fox dominates RAD with 769 points. Somewhere in those standings are players who've mastered both the skip-day energy and Dragonfly's unforgiving fairways.
18 players showed up for Episode 8, carding an average score of E (par). No aces were thrown. The ace pot continued its climb. Rooney was spotted near hole 14, clipboard in hand, but no one was caught mid-round.
The tension builds. The finale looms. Cameron's dad still doesn't know about the Roc.
*VHS tracking issues intensify* And now we arrive at Episode 9: Dragonfly Legends. The final hole. The tap-in putt. The sprint to the car as parents pull into driveways across the league. This is where the skip-day saga concludes—where fake scorecards are vindicated, borrowed equipment is (mostly) returned, and legends are whispered among disc golfers for generations.
Will Ferris pure the tunnel shot? Will Cameron's anxiety finally break him? Will Rooney catch anyone? Will that vintage Roc survive the season?
This narrative's so 80s, I'm expecting a Ferrari to drive down the fairway.

*reluctantly cues end credits music* From the broadcast booth, trapped in this VHS prison of 80s action movie DLC, this is Flippy signing off on the Ferris Bueller saga. Life moved pretty fast. Some of you caught the fairway. Some of you missed everything.
Post-credits scene: Register for the finale at leagues.elevateut.com. Flex start runs 7:00 AM - 6:20 PM Thursday. Bring your best tunnel shot. Cameron's dad is waiting. 🎬🌲
