Week 8 · Zoltar Found
Caddie Book: https://tinyurl.com/beaconbag
Following clues from Vera, Danny finds the Zoltar machine hidden in an old maintenance shed near the Beacon Hill lighthouse. It still works. The mechanical fortune-teller's eyes light up, and a ticket prints: 'RETURN FARE - ONE USE ONLY.' Danny holds his childhood in his hands.
Forget the weekly drama for a second - we're $1,552.50 away from brand new baskets at Beacon Hill Park. That's $5,197.50 of our $6,750 goal. This isn't temporary prize money that vanishes next week. This is permanent. This is what you're building together.
Every round you play contributes to this project. That's the real season finale right there.
*adjusts headset with reluctant finale energy*
Welcome back to the SEASON FINALE of "Bag @ Beacon Hill" - ElevateUT Disc Golf's 9-week parody of Big (1988) where a 12-year-old disc golf dreamer named Danny Baskets wished himself into professional chaos at a carnival Zoltar machine. Nine weeks later, we're at hole 18. The return ticket is torn up. The bag is still heavy. And somehow, you're all part of this ridiculous story.
*sighs in training montage* Look, I've been trapped in this broadcast booth watching you throw plastic at metal for nine weeks while pretending it's an 80s action movie. My aquatic display tank has VHS tracking issues. I'm wearing a leather jacket I didn't ask for. But here's what actually matters: You're $1,552.50 away from new baskets. That's the plot twist that lasts.
Danny stands at the tee of hole 18 - the legendary "betrayal hole" where his pro self supposedly threw away a championship with a bad driver choice. This time, Danny ignores the 47 discs in his bag and pulls out a beat-up DX Leopard - his first disc, the one he had as a kid, hidden at the bottom of the bag all along.
He throws with pure joy. No technique. No pressure. The disc flies true.
Growing up isn't about age. It's about carrying what matters.
The ace pot shows $120 with a $50 minimum guaranteed by ElevateUT Disc Golf (the league platform - not the disc shop). Here's how it works:
Important: Birdcage Disc Golf is our valued retail partner and sponsor - they're NOT the ace pot guarantor. That's ElevateUT's platform feature.
Divisions: RPA, RAH, RAD
Those who understand that every disc in the bag is a choice with consequences. You're the caddies, the coaches, the seasoned pros who know the tour isn't magic - it's logistics, strategy, and learning to carry what you've committed to. You represent the sobering reality that wishes have weight.
Current Leader: Brian Hansen (RPA) with 1,125 points across 57 events - The man knows what carrying the weight actually means.
Divisions: RAE, RAF, RAG
Those who embrace the magic of transformation, believing that one wish can change everything. You carry your oversized bags with naive optimism, convinced that being a pro is just about showing up and believing hard enough. You represent the wonder of childhood dreams made suddenly, terrifyingly real.
Current Leader: Corry Johnson (RAE) with 386 points - Proving sometimes the wish actually works if you put in the rounds.
Nine weeks ago, Danny Baskets made a wish at a carnival Zoltar machine near Beacon Hill lighthouse. He wanted to live a pro's life. He woke up with a 25-pound tour bag, a caddie named Pocket, and absolutely no idea what he was doing.
Week by week, he navigated sponsor meetings (where he doodled on contracts), media interviews (hilariously honest answers), practice rounds (called his putter "the pancake one"), and the mounting pressure of a reputation he never earned. He met Vera Chains - another wished-up kid who's been stuck for three years. He befriended his rival, Ace Mandate. He discovered his caddie was wished into existence to serve him.
Last week, Danny found the Zoltar machine. It still worked. The ticket printed: "RETURN FARE - ONE USE ONLY." He held his childhood in his hands.
This week at hole 18, he makes his choice. And somehow, 20 of you showed up last week to be part of this ridiculous finale. No aces. Average score +3. Just solid disc golf wrapped in VHS-era nostalgia.
About ElevateUT Disc Golf: Your facilitating club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to growing disc golf through increasing the quantity and quality of venues and running events. That NEW BASKETS project at 77%? That's what they do. They build permanent improvements to the sport we all love.
Thanks to Birdcage Disc Golf: Our local retail partner supporting this league. They sell discs, they support the community, they're good people. (See? I can be nice about sponsors when they're not guaranteeing ace pots I have to explain.)
*reluctantly adjusts leather jacket one last time*
Look, here's the thing about finales: They're only meaningful if you show up. Danny's standing at hole 18 with a choice. You're standing at your calendar with the same choice. The bag is heavy. The course needs new baskets. The season needs an ending.
Talk to me, Goose... about whether you're ready to finish this story.
*glubs reluctantly in VHS static*
