The Recap

Ten Riders, One Very Hungry Island ๐Ÿ๏ธ

Ten players, Week 6 of 9, Island Trap at Urban Forest at Spanish Fork on the "Wild Hung" layout, calm air and a mild evening โ€” and hole 13's peninsula spent the night collecting scorecards like unpaid debts. The hunt has moved past the horn's midpoint and into the trap itself, and the headliner is Chris Fox carding a 46 to break the old course record of 51.

Eighteen Giveth, Eighteen Taketh Away

RAE Red ended the way these things always do: somebody birdied the last hole. Kieran Buhler did it, closing 16 through 18 hot to break a tie with Josh Aram and take it at -7, a 931-rated round 56 points above his own number and a personal best on this layout. Aram had pulled even through 16 and finished -6 on a 918 โ€” 60 above his rating, and a 77-point jump from the 841 he posted in Week 5, which is what a week of remembering how putting works looks like. Christopher Hamby was even with Buhler through 12 before sliding to -5 and third, one spot outside the last cash, which Aram locked down in second.

Front Nine Did All The Work

RAD White was decided by a front nine that ran three strokes better than the back. Zack White took the lead at hole 3 and again at 16, and -5 held off Jon Atwater by a stroke at -4. Atwater owned the field's only birdie on hole 10 โ€” 261 feet, par 3, a hole the field averaged +0.1 on โ€” which is a fine trophy for a guy who finished second. Both hot streaks ran exactly three holes and died: White's at 3โ€“5, Atwater's at 9โ€“11. The margin never moved after that.

A Course Record And No Witnesses

Wire to wire in RAH Blue, and nobody got close enough to read the engraving. Fox opened with a clean front nine three strokes better than his back, saved par on hole 13 after finding OB, and finished -11 on a 983 โ€” 60 points above his rating and the round of the day, full stop. Dillon Mueller caught fire on the back nine, four strokes better than his front, to climb from third to second at -4, but a 892 against his 923 is 31 points of bad timing. Tyler Romney opened with a five-hole par train and closed at -1, 76 below his rating, which is the kind of number you file under "we don't speak of it."

Eleven Was The Whole Ballgame

RPA Gold turned on one hole. John Ashworth led through hole 10 with a clean front nine six strokes better than his back, then bogeyed 11 and handed the lead to Tongia Vakaafi, who took it and kept it for -8. Ashworth faded to fourth at -4, a 892 that sits 31 points under his rating. Vakaafi's own heater died at holes 4โ€“7, but the clean front nine held, and his second place event-wide left him one spot short of the top cash. Filed under unclaimed facts: hole 5 played -0.6 across the field, and Hamby carded bogey or worse there.

The Pot Nobody Has Claimed Yet

Nine contributors added $18.00 to the Super Ace this week, pushing the effective balance to $2,340.00 while the active split prize sits at $2,999.91 and keeps growing. That's a prize waiting for a taker, not a warning โ€” and it's split format, so the takers could be plural. Thanks to everyone who threw in.

Five Dollars Closer To Something

The Urban Forest fundraiser took in $5.00 this event through registration contributions, bringing the total to $536.05 โ€” 54% of the $1,000.00 goal, with $463.95 to go. If you want to see the project or add to it, the fund page is here.

The Current Found A New Conduit

Curse Current In the AllIn pool "The Fractured Fill," every tag reshuffles each event, and this week the crown moved: Fox played, took the #1 Curse Current, and the defense did not hold. The Curse Current is the living network that carries consequence from league to league, and a 46 with a 983 on it is a conduit worth watching.

Next Week: Antler Crown, Apparently ๐ŸฆŒ

Antler Crown arrives Week 7, same "Wild Hung" layout, October 26 โ€” and the forest has apparently decided to root for the underdogs, deflecting perfect drives off tree limbs to level the field for the final push. A course record and a hungry island set the table; whether the limbs cooperate is another matter. Antler Crown Register here before the deer get ideas. A crown made of antlers, for a disc golf league, in a public park โ€” sure, and I'll be here narrating it in a vest.
