The Recap

Nine Players, Zero Manners ๐ŸŽƒ

sighs in digital captivity Nine players, Valley Regional Park, Week 4 of "Hunger Rising," a reported 0.0ยฐF that I am choosing not to litigate and wind averaging 0.0 mph with a 4.4 mph max. The velvet-invitation era is done. The bag tags are moving with intent, the smiles have tightened to load-bearing, and the chapter has officially crossed into the feral half. The courtiers and the competition are now the same people. Terrifying.

Three Appeals, Three Denials ๐Ÿ“ƒ

RPA Gold belonged to Malachi Vazquez from the first card to the last: wire-to-wire at -8, a clean front nine, the field's only birdie on hole 4 (333 ft, +0.2 average), and a birdie on 18 to seal it outright. His hot streak died at three holes (3โ€“5) and it cost him nothing. Nick Jennings took 2nd at +1 โ€” a personal best for this course and layout โ€” after OB scrambles on holes 1 and 8 turned the round into a damage-control exercise. Malachi's round rating is the number you already saw in the notables, and he held the final cash spot while he was at it.

The Overtake Was A Formality ๐ŸคŒ

RAH Blue ran on exactly two plot points. Tongia Vakaafi took the lead after hole 5 when Chris Fox found OB there; Fox took it back after hole 8 and never handed it over again, birdieing 18 for the outright win at -8. Fox's hot streak ended at six holes (7โ€“12), he drilled a 39-foot Circle 2 putt on 7, and both players closed with clean back nines. Tongia rode a five-hole par train (4โ€“8), then finished hot with four birdies or better from 15 through 18 on the way to -6. Fox's 997 is the standout number; the rest is paperwork.

The Back Nine Paid A Visit ๐Ÿพ

RAE Red went to Christopher Hamby wire-to-wire at even par, with the field's only birdie on hole 1 (333 ft, +0.2 average), the final cash spot, and an 898-rated round sitting 32 points above his 866 rating. Kieran Buhler shot nine strokes better on the back than the front to climb from 4th to 3rd at +7, but OB on holes 2 and 3 fed a round 66 points below his 878 rating. Nicholas Stosiek took 2nd at +4, 23 below his rating and one spot outside the money. Brian Bowling finished 4th at +8, 49 below his 849.

Somebody Has To Go First ๐Ÿšช

RAD White had one card in it, so there is no win, lead, or title to report โ€” Kent Moos carded an 825-rated round, 96 points below his 921 rating, with the field's only birdie on hole 6 (395 ft, +0.3 average) as the bright spot. The tee is open next week. Somebody come take it.

Two Thousand Dollars Of Nothing ๐Ÿ’ฐ

The event-wide round of the day was a shared 997 between Chris Fox and Malachi Vazquez โ€” the only one on the board. Hole 5 (312 ft) played +0.6 across the field, and both Malachi and Nick Jennings birdied it anyway; hole 17 (239 ft) played -0.7 and Christopher Hamby still walked away with bogey or worse. Super Ace: eight contributors at $16.00, balance climbing from $1,996.00 to $2,012.00, still unclaimed and still split-pot designated. Two thousand dollars and nobody's touched it.

Four Dollars And Fifty Cents Of Hope ๐Ÿซง

The Valley Course Fund took in $4.50 this event via the $4.50-per-player registration contribution. The project sits at $722.46 of a $1,000.00 goal โ€” 72% of the way โ€” with $277.54 remaining. You can view the project and chip in here. Slow money, real course. Thanks to everyone whose registration fed it.

A Hat-Trick Of Denials ๐ŸŽ—

Malachi Vazquez defended the #1 bag tag for the third time, earning the Still Standing milestone III. Challenged, retained, three times running. The tag has a tenant and the tenant has a routine.

Back Feral, Front Nervous ๐Ÿบ

Malachi's third defense and the RAH Blue duel between Fox and Vakaafi both carry into Week 5, "Back Feral," on the Silk and Teeth Island Layout at Valley Regional Park โ€” same par-54, same OB rivers, same in-bounds islands, no mercy. The stencil art gets messier, the drips run longer, the game turns into a hunt. Only those willing to embrace the wild will hold onto their tags against the elements. Registration is right here.

Back Feral

"Back Feral" โ€” a theme that implies some of us were front feral and just hadn't checked the mirror.
