The Frontier's Cold Math The Patient Predator Feathers Tighten When Threatened

Aspects refreshed May 22, 2026

In the earliest days of the Deadlands, before the first competitor drew their first score, the vultures were already circling. They were not born—they were summoned by the frontier itself to witness and record every judgment. The Vulture's Due began as a covenant: the frontier would provide carrion, and the vultures would provide eternal memory. Now, every survivor carries the weight of this ancient contract, knowing that the vultures never forget and never forgive a debt unpaid. The name persists across all leagues because the vultures were there before the courses were laid and will circle above long after the final culling.

Vulture's Due manifests as a circle of vulture feathers orbiting a central medallion of blackened silver. The feathers whisper constantly, reciting scores and names in a language that sounds like wind through hollow bones. The medallion bears an inscription in frontier script: 'All debts eventually come due.' When the bearer faces elimination, the feathers multiply and descend, carrying the scent of decay—a warning that the vultures are calculating. Cold spots form around the bearer when scores are being tallied, as if death itself is watching from above, taking notes for the eternal ledger.

Vulture's Due serves as the frontier's eternal accountant, recording every score and calculating the debt each survivor owes for their continued existence. Bearers carry the weight of being watched by something patient and eternal—creatures who have witnessed every culling and will witness every one to come. This bag tag embodies the mathematical inevitability of the Deadlands' judgment: survival is not escape, merely postponement of payment to those who audit the frontier's cold equations.
