When the Chaintrix was first encoded into the VHS substrate, the Blockbuster Directive mandated that every player interaction be recorded in magnetic permanence. The Rental Chronicle emerged as the master record - the cosmic database that tracks who rented which simulation, when they showed up, and what their return status became. It's older than any player's membership and will persist long after the final tape ejects.
Encoded player attendance in Blockbuster gold magnetic ink that glows when rental dates approach. Exists as both physical VHS sleeve insert and ethereal digital projection. Displays due date warnings that pulse red when penalties approach. Contains hidden director commentary tracks for each player's history.
The Rental Chronicle determines which players have 'returned' their rentals on time and which face late fee penalties - directly controlling the no-show rule enforcement across all 16 movie simulations.
