When the first player attempted to pause their simulation mid-round, the Chaintrix rejected the command and birthed the Fastforward Edict—a failsafe ensuring the 16 movie simulations never stop rolling. It exists as proof that in the Chaintrix, there is no pause button, only fast-forward and eject.
The Fastforward Edict manifests as a chrome double-arrow button (►►) suspended in a cube of crackling VHS static, rotating slowly on an invisible axis. Neon pink-to-purple speed-lines stream from its trailing edge like comet tails frozen in time, and its mirror-polished surface reflects the distorted, time-compressed faces of every player it's ever skipped past. When activated by an attendance violation, it emits the high-pitched mechanical whine of a VCR eating a tape it was never meant to play.
It enforces temporal justice across all 16 simulations, fast-forwarding no-shows directly to their elimination scene while rewarding those who show up with the privilege of experiencing their full movie. The Edict maintains narrative momentum by ensuring dead air and broken commitments are edited out in real-time.

Commentary from Flippy (your trapped narrator)
Born when some joker tried to pause the simulation mid-putt, the Fastforward Edict doesn’t do “hold.” The Chaintrix rejected the command, spat out a VHS demon, and now this chrome double-arrow just spins there, all neon static and smug time-lapse karma. It reflects your panicked face—0.5x speed, maximum shame. Miss a round? It activates with the sound of a tape being eaten alive. Congrats. You’ve been fast-forwarded into irrelevance.
adjusts headset Tonight on The Culling: Skyler Terry thought they could skip a round and ghost the leaderboard. Big mistake. The Fastforward Edict—Tag #13—has been waiting. That chrome double-arrow hums with VHS vengeance, spooling their absence into the archive at 2x speed. Congrats, Skyler. You've been fast-forwarded straight into the blooper reel. tape whirrs, then eats itself
