Follows the Crimson Thread Wounds Never Heal Clean Your Scorecard Tells Stories

Aspects refreshed Jul 15, 2026

The Bureau developed Tear Line as a classified document control method during the early Containment Zone operations. Agents physically tear documents to ensure that even if intercepted, partial information reveals nothing. But those who studied the torn edges discovered something unexpected: the PATTERN of tears itself revealed intelligence. What was removed, when, and how heavily redacted all told a story. Now Tear Line exists as both a security measure and an unintended intelligence leak - the Bureau's own tool turned against them.

The Tear Line manifests as a thin crimson thread woven through Bureau documents, connecting the torn edges where information was removed. The jagged tear pattern creates a distinctive visual signature - never clean, always irregular. The depth and density of tears correlate with the classification level of removed content: single thin tears indicate minor redactions while deep, ragged lacerations signal major secrets. Only players with Level 3 clearance or higher can perceive the full Tear Line pattern.

Tear Line serves as both threat and opportunity within the Containment Zone. When you discover a Tear Line on another player's file, you know the Bureau considers them significant enough to hide - but you cannot determine whether that's because they're a dangerous operative or a valuable asset. The uncertainty is the point. Players who master Tear Line interpretation gain unprecedented intelligence about competitors, but attract Bureau attention for 'observing beyond clearance.'
