The Loa have been patient. The water has been rising. And now, at Week 9 of the Black Bayou, the spirits demand their final tribute. Welcome to Final Offering, where the only way out is through, and the only way through is to survive the culling.
The Bayou Breathes
South of Everything Civilized
South of everything civilized, the bayou breathes. Spanish moss, still water, and the Loa watching from every shadow. The magic here is older than the Reckoners. Mambo priestesses work the crossroads where the spirit world bleeds through, and the gators aren't the most dangerous thing in the water. The drums never stop. Each week the water gets darker, the rituals heavier, and the spirits hungrier. The bayou forgives nothing.
This isn't hyperbole, folks. This is the thematic framing I'm contractually obligated to deliver while standing in a digital broadcast booth that smells faintly of stagnant water and existential dread. Dragonfly Disc Golf Course in Lehi, UT, becomes our cursed territory. The wetlands become The Abyss. The dense woods become The Gallows. And you, dear challenger, become either a Survivor or one of The Drowned.
When the Drums Beat

Current Week
Week 9 — Final Offering
Flex Start
7:00 AM – 5:40 PM (choose your own card)
Shotgun Start
6:00 PM sharp
Course
Dragonfly Disc Golf Course, Lehi, UT
Flex start means you can roll in whenever your schedule allows, gather your fellow souls, and march into the swamp. The 6 PM shotgun is for those who crave structure in their ritual sacrifice. Either way, the Loa will find you.
The Divisions of the Damned
The Black Bayou sorts its tributes into two pools, because even spirits appreciate administrative organization:
- Pool A: RPA (Pro), RAH (Advanced), RAD (Intermediate) — the heavy hitters and the ones who think they can hang
- Pool B: RAE (Recreational), RAF (Junior?), RAG (Novice?) — the hungry masses and the weekend warriors
Your tag determines your rank in the bayou hierarchy. Tags 1-3 are The Loa — literal spirit gods of the leaderboard. Tags 4-15 are The Houngans — ritual masters who know the dark arts of course management. Tags 16-40 are The Survivors — still breathing, still throwing. And tags 41+ are The Drowned — claimed by the swamp, lost to the depths. Week 9 is when the bottom tier gets their final reckoning.
The Price of Passage
Weekly Buy-In
$5.50 (base entry)
Prize Money (optional)
$5.00
Super Ace (optional)
$2.00
CTP
Free — the only thing in the bayou that doesn't cost you
That's $17.50 if you go all in. For the price of a mediocre lunch, you can test your fate against the spirits, the elements, and your own questionable putting.
The Hexed Relic
Current Ace Pot: $108.34
No one claimed the bounty last week. The Hexed Relic remains unbroken. The pot grows. The spirits grow impatient.
The ace pot is currently at $108.34 with a minimum guarantee of $50 provided by ElevateUT Disc Golf (the league platform — not the disc shop, who are our friends at Another Round Salt Lake City and definitely not in the business of guaranteeing ace pots). If the pot ever appears stuck at the guarantee amount, that's because contributions haven't exceeded that floor yet. Any guarantee top-up is credited to the winner's Bonus Account (registration-only funds, not withdrawable to PayPal or disc shops).
Translation: Throw an ace, get paid. Don't throw an ace, watch the pot grow and question your life choices. Simple arithmetic.
New Tee Pads! — The Only Thing That Actually Matters
Fundraising Goal: $3,000 — Currently at 16%
This is the part where I drop the sarcasm for a moment, because this actually matters. ElevateUT Disc Golf, our 501(c)(3) non-profit overlords, are raising money for NEW TEE PADS at Dragonfly. Permanent. Concrete. Life-changing. Every round you play contributes to this goal.
We're at 16% of a $3,000 goal. That's $480 raised. We need $2,520 more. Every entry fee, every ace pot buy-in, every dollar that flows through this league helps build something that lasts longer than your bag tag's relevance. The spirits may be temporary, but good tee pads are forever.
This is community investment. Your $5.50 doesn't just buy you a ranking — it buys you a better course. Join the league, play a round, and know that your disc is launching from a pad that YOU helped fund. Or don't, and enjoy teeing off from dirt while the rest of us celebrate progress. Your call.
The Current Landscape of the Deadlands
The series standings tell a story of dominance, persistence, and the occasional dark horse:
- RAD: Craig Bennett sits atop the throne with 761 points across 33 events. Taylor Thilo (452) and Jonathan Lang (353) are respectable, but let's be honest — Craig is the Loa right now.
- RAE: David LaTour (186) and Brian Bowling (174) are in a knife fight for supremacy. Stephen Dunton (160) is lurking. This division has drama.
- RAF: Nicholas Stosiek (372) has a comfortable lead over William Fetzer (213), but in the bayou, comfort is just complacency in disguise.
- RAG: Caleb Wetzel (213) is the king of a small but mighty hill. Kinzie Campbell (64) is watching.
- RAH: Dillon Mueller (214) leads Britain Best (140). The gap is real but not insurmountable.
- RPA: Chris Fox (577) is the undisputed top dog. Malachi Vazquez (375) and Nick Jennings (290) are the hungry challengers.
Late to the Crossroads?
It's Week 9. The final week. If you haven't joined yet, this is your last chance to get your soul... I mean, your tag... added to the ledger. The Loa accept all tribute, even last-minute offerings. Fresh meat is especially welcome. Show up, throw plastic at metal, and see where you land in the final rankings before the swamp claims its permanent residents.
Our Generous Partners in Chaos
This league is facilitated by ElevateUT Disc Golf, a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to growing the sport through better venues and events. They're the ones who make this cursed broadcast possible, and for that, I suppose I owe them a grudging tip of the digital hat.
Local support comes from Another Round Salt Lake City — your neighborhood disc shop for all your plastic acquisition needs. They keep the discs spinning and the community thriving. Go give them your business. Tell them Flippy sent you. They won't know what that means, but it'll be a conversation starter.
*adjusts headset, checks clipboard, sighs in haunted frontier* Another drifter rides into the sunset... of the eliminated rankings. Or maybe you'll be the one holding the Sheriff's Badge when the credits roll. Only the Loa know. And they're not telling.
