The Recap

Shadows Lengthen, Manners Shorten ๐Ÿ‚

Nine players, Valley Regional Park, the Islands layout, clouds overhead and wind averaging 3.0 mph with a 4.0 max, 69.1ยฐF on the thermometer. Week 6 of 9 in Valley Shadows, and the course is starting to wear on the reluctant heirs โ€” this was less about looking good and more about surviving the back nine with your cuffs still clean.

Three Names, One Cash Line ๐Ÿ’ฐ

RPA Gold gave us five players and a finish that refused to resolve. Jared Lang led through hole 16, then gave it back with a bogey on 17 and slid to 4th at -3, a 944 round against his 965 rating. That left Chris Norman, John Ashworth and Britain Best sharing 1st at -4 and the final cash spot, all three at 956. Norman's back nine ran four strokes better than his front, with the field's only birdie on hole 8 and a clean close. Ashworth's back nine was six strokes better than his front, a 956 against a 923 rating. Best was the day's most decorated card: only birdie of the field on hole 5 at 312 feet, only birdie on hole 14 at 429 feet, an OB scramble on 16, and a personal best -4 for this layout. Malachi Vazquez finished 5th at -1, a 920 round 41 points under his rating, though his hot streak ending at four holes (10โ€“13) was softened by three birdies to close 16โ€“18.

One Man, One Card, No Witnesses ๐Ÿงพ

RAH Blue had Chris Fox alone on the card at even par, 908 rated, with OB on holes 4 and 5 to manage. RAG Purple had Blaine Callahan alone at +19, and his 680-rated round came in 29 points above his 651 rating โ€” the swing worth spotlighting. Both divisions are open for challengers; the docket has room.

Front Nine Did the Work โ›ณ

RAE Red was two players and one stroke. Michael Whipple built a four-stroke edge on the front nine, never relinquished it, and closed +2 to Christopher Hamby's +3. Whipple's 884 against an 856 rating is 28 points above his number, and it's a personal best +2 for this course and layout. Hamby answered a double on hole 6 with a birdie on 7, then saw his hot streak end at holes 15โ€“17.

The Pot Grows, the Ace Doesn't ๐ŸŽฏ

The Super Ace is configured and still unclaimed: eight contributors put in $16.00 this event, pushing the balance from $2,380.00 to $2,396.00 against an active prize of $2,999.91, split pot. No ace to report. The suspense gets another week to marinate.

Four Dollars and Fifty Cents of Grace ๐Ÿช™

This event raised $4.50 through the $4.50 per-player registration contribution. The Valley Course Fund now sits at $726.96, 73% of the $1,000.00 goal, with $273.04 to go. Small change, real progress.

The Lattice Picked Its Protagonist โœจ

The Crimson Teeth pool runs AllIn, so every tag reshuffled this week, and the top of the board changed hands. John Ashworth arrived holding #2 and left with #1, the Fairway Nexus, on that 956 round โ€” his 50 beating the field average of 51.3. The Nexus is the series-spanning lattice of golden light that pulses at rating thresholds and documents every throw across every course under the Accords; this week it picked a protagonist and he delivered. In AllIn mode nothing is safe from one week to the next โ€” climb and you're rewarded, miss the card and you're buried at the back of the line.

Fairway Nexus

Family Business, No Refunds ๐Ÿ”ช

The question leaving Week 6 is whether Norman, Ashworth or Best can break that three-way tie at the top, and whether Vazquez's late fire travels. Week 7 lands as Family Business on 2026-10-27, same Valley Regional Park, same Islands layout, with the storyline promising that settling scores takes precedence over making friends โ€” the estate wants its due.

Family Business

Registration is open at the league event page. A disc golf league calling itself a family business is the most ominous thing I've typed all season, and I once filed an appeal in triplicate.
