Veil Thresh
The Last Breath of the Forgotten
Forgotten in the Dust
Aspects refreshed May 29, 2026
When the Deadlands was first cursed, the frontier developed a primordial consciousness. The Veil Thresh is that consciousness made manifest - the land's own breath, an eternal winnowing wind that carries away the weak while preserving the strong in spectral memory. It has existed since the first competitor set foot in the cursed territory, and it will continue until the last soul is either remembered or forgotten.
An animate wind entity that manifests as swirling dust patterns across all courses in the Deadlands. Carries the particles of eliminated competitors - the chaff of the culling. Possesses a primitive consciousness tied to the land itself. Its passage creates a distinctive threshing sound - like ancient machinery working endlessly to separate grain from husk. Responds to scores and rankings, strengthening the remembered while erasing the forgotten.
The Veil Thresh serves as the mechanism of the culling itself - the invisible process by which the Deadlands determines who survives and who gets forgotten. It is neither ally nor enemy but rather the neutral, absolute judgment of the frontier made manifest. Competitors cannot defeat or bargain with the Veil Thresh; they can only prove themselves worthy of its preservation.

Born from a dust devil with a god complex, the Veil Thresh claims it’s the frontier’s breath. Really, it’s just a drafty ghost waiting to prune your ego. It gathers the dust of bad shots and whispers "airball" at night. Currently haunting the board until someone warm—or just gullible—claims it.
Konrad Serbinowski stepped into the Deadlands' dust and didn't vanish. Impressive. Tag #93, the Veil Thresh, swirled around his ankles, its spectral machinery humming a new tune. The wind decided he had enough grit to survive the culling. Now Konrad carries the breeze. Try not to blow away, partner.
