The Raven's Chosen Survivor
My Mark Draws Every Target
Aspects refreshed Apr 27, 2026
The Raven Sign emerged from the first culling when the frontier itself learned to recognize those who deserved remembrance. It manifested as a spectral raven that marked survivors with its claw, embedding the sign into their very being. Now, when a competitor survives a judgment that should have claimed them, the sign appears - proof that the Deadlands have noticed their worth.
The Raven Sign appears as a dark, ink-like mark on the bearer's skin that shifts like living smoke, depicting a raven in flight over a graveyard. The bird's eyes are tiny points of gold that flare when danger approaches, glowing brighter during high-contention moments and darkening to near-invisibility when elimination threatens. The mark grows perceptibly colder when rivals approach with lethal intent, serving as a supernatural warning system.
The Raven Sign serves as a shield against complete erasure - bearers cannot be entirely forgotten even if eliminated from the current culling. This creates the series' central promise: survival grants partial immortality within the Deadlands, connecting directly to the 'strong get remembered' doctrine that governs the frontier.

Born when the frontier decided to keep score, the Raven Sign is spectral ink with a god complex. It marks survivors with a smoky raven that chills your skin the moment a rival gets close. It’s not a gift; it’s a judgment from the Deadlands that you were too stubborn to die. A petty, glowing warning that you’re definitely on the clock.
Jon White thought he escaped the purge. Instead, the Deadlands branded him with Tag 24, the Raven Sign. It’s not a souvenir, partner; it’s spectral ink screaming that you’re on borrowed time. That bird’s eyes flare when you miss. Don't choke, or the sign gets hungry.
