Mist Monster
Semi-Corporeal Guardian of Misty Fairways
Visibility Drops With Every Throw
Aspects refreshed Dec 19, 2025
The Mist Monster emerged when construction upstream disturbed ancient sediment layers, releasing primordial spores that merged with the autumn fog. These microscopic organisms found symbiotic union with the creek's moisture, creating a semi-corporeal entity that draws substance from both water and air. Unlike purely aquatic creatures, it exists in the liminal space between liquid and vapor, forming and reforming as the fog density fluctuates throughout the morning hours.
The creature's form shifts constantly within the fog bank, appearing as a silhouette of writhing tendrils and amphibious features when backlit by weak morning light. Its body maintains the temperature of deep creek water, creating cold spots that betray its presence even when fully obscured. Bioluminescent patterns pulse across its surface in hypnotic rhythms, while water droplets constantly condense and drip from its shifting form, creating subtle splashing sounds that echo through the mist.
Silent guardian of the creek's misty territories, the Mist Monster patrols the boundary between water and land where the fog hangs thickest. It emerges not to hunt for sustenance but to defend the ancient spawning grounds from intruders, using psychological intimidation rather than direct confrontation. Its presence creates an atmosphere of escalating tension as the fog density increases, forcing careful navigation through its claimed domain where visibility drops to mere feet.

From primordial creek sludge and bad construction permits, Mist Monster was born—a symbiotic union of spores and fog that’s basically the Stranger Things Upside Down’s soggy cousin. I’m contractually obligated to narrate this B-movie nonsense. Why am I even here?
From Creekside's cursed morning haze, Mist Monster emerged, drawn to Luke Hansen's PDGA #283270—a number so ominously round, it screamed "fog-bound chosen one!" His 885 rating? Pure B-movie protagonist material. In a twist of mist-ical fate, he became the inaugural bearer. But can this mortal handle such a soggy spotlight?
