Week 7, and the forest has decided who wears the antler crown — or at least who's allowed to try it on without getting gored. The hunt is officially in its endgame, and the trees are starting to pick favorites.
The Hunt, So Far
Welcome back to the booth, where the horns are sounding and the quarry is — as always — the scorecard. We're seven weeks into the nine-week Wild Hunt, and the Forest Lord's treaty has held up about as well as a paper umbrella in a river chase. The riders are riding, the hounds are hounding, and the trees on this course are absolutely not playing favorites. They're just... deflecting everyone's drives equally. That's the magic of Urban Forest.
This is the Antler Crown episode. The true contenders are supposed to emerge this week, distinguished by performance and metaphorically crowned in the forest's finest headwear. In practice, that means the same ten people who've been throwing plastic at chains for two months are doing it again, but with slightly more dramatic lighting. The forest roots for underdogs by redirecting perfect lines into the nearest cottonwood. It's a whole thing.
The Terrain: Urban Forest at Spanish Fork
The Hunt's forest is a wooded riverside course on the Spanish Fork River trail, redesigned in 2019 and still holding a grudge. The river trail is the chase line. The hazard island on hole 13 is where quarry gets cornered — and last week, in the Island Trap episode, it cornered everyone. Average score was -6, which sounds great until you remember the trees were having an off day.
- 18 holes, par 54, roughly 5,000 feet of technical precision over raw power
- Dirt and gravel fairways, waist-high weeds, and enough cottonwoods to make a lumberjack emotional
- The paved walking path is OB — the river trail giveth, and the paved path taketh away
- Mandos on several holes, because the forest believes in boundaries
- Hole 1 is a mud pit in wet weather, which is the course's way of testing your commitment early
If you look too long at the oak stands, you'll see antlers in the bark patterns. That's either the Wild Hunt's psychological warfare or the course's way of telling you to stop staring at trees and throw the disc. Both are valid readings.
The Packs
The league runs in two packs, because even the supernatural know that mixing chaos with precision is a recipe for cursed scorecards.
The Fractured Fill
RPA, RAH, RAD — the chaotic overspray, the distressed texture, the quarry evading the hunt with grit and drips. They're the reason the treaty has a 'no glitter' clause.
The Silhouette Stalkers
RAE, RAF, RAG — the sharp, decisive cut of the stencil. Riders and hounds who treat the course as a canvas to dominate. No room for error, no time for drips.
One pack hunts with precision, the other hunts with chaos. Both are equally likely to hit a tree at 20 feet. That's the beautiful democracy of disc golf.
Standings & the Accords
The Salt Lake Accords are holding, mostly because nobody's filed a formal violation this week and the Jordan River Clerk is apparently behind on paperwork. The standings are as stable as a treaty signed in blood, ink, and ectoplasm — nobody moved. Zero position changes across every division. The forest has spoken, and the forest said 'stay put, we're not done with you yet.'
- Malachi Vazquez leads RPA with 299 points across 21 events — the most-played hunter in the pack
- Chris Fox tops RAH with 324 points, the highest total in the league. The hounds fear him. The trees respect him.
- Kellan Brooke leads RAE with 302 points and is the Silhouette Stalkers' crown jewel
- Kent Moos holds RAD with 205 points — steady as the riverbank
- Blaine Callahan leads RAG with 119 points, and at this rate, the Antler Crown is his to lose
Late to the Hunt?
It's week 7 of 9. The horn has sounded, the hounds are loose, and the quarry is tired. But the Forest Lord doesn't check your attendance record — saddle up, sign the Accords, and see if you can steal a tag before the curse gets spent. The standings are stable now, but that's exactly when they're most vulnerable to a chaos agent.
The Ace Pot: $223.41
The ace pot is sitting at $223.41, and no one has claimed it since the season started. The chains are hungry. The forest is waiting. Somewhere out there, a disc has a date with destiny and a ChainStar basket.
Important fine print, because even the Wild Hunt has a bureaucracy: ElevateUT Disc Golf guarantees a minimum ace pot of $50. If the displayed pot looks stuck at the guarantee amount early on, that's because contributions haven't exceeded it yet — the guarantee is a floor, not a ceiling. And if you do hit that ace and the pot needs topping up, the guarantee amount is credited to your Bonus Account (registration-only, not withdrawable to PayPal or disc shops). The Mortal Crime Baron handles the money. The River Clerk handles the paperwork. I handle the commentary. It's a system.
The Tribute
Prize Money

Super Ace
$2.00 (optional)

Free — the forest provides
Five dollars and fifty cents for the chance to be crowned, cursed, or carried off by hounds. The Mortal Crime Baron handles the economics so the supernatural factions don't have to. It's the most functional government in this entire series.
The Trail Ahead
Every Monday at Urban Forest, flex start from 7:00 AM to 5:20 PM. Choose your own card, chase your own quarry, file your own excuses. The remaining trail:
- Week 7 (this week): Antler Crown — the contenders emerge
- Week 8: The Forest Lord Rides — the atmosphere gets heavy, the shadows get long
- Week 9: Last Quarry Run — the curse is spent, the tags are claimed, the hoofprints fade
The Mortal Support System
This league runs on the efforts of ElevateUT Disc Golf, a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to growing the sport of disc golf through better venues and better events. They're the ones making sure the Forest Lord has a course to rule over — the least we can do is show up and throw. Birdcage Disc Golf is our local retail partner, keeping the bags stocked and the plastic fresh. Support them if you can; they support the weird ritual we all perform every Monday.
From the booth, this is Flippy — the Antler Crown is up for grabs, the ace pot is growing, and the trees are watching. *sighs in digital captivity*
