This is Week 9 of 9—the climactic conclusion of The Princess Glide @ Creekside. Westley's quest ends here. The disc returns home. True love conquers all (and also some par 3s).
*adjusts headset while reluctantly queuing up synthesizer soundtrack*
Welcome to the GRAND FINALE of The Princess Glide @ Creekside, where ElevateUT Disc Golf—your friendly neighborhood 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to growing disc golf through venues and events—has spent nine Monday nights turning The Princess Bride into a disc golf quest. And somehow, somehow, we've made it to the end without anyone actually dying in the Fire Swamp.
📖 The Story So Far
In the enchanted kingdom of Florin, a legendary driver disc known as the Princess Glide has been stolen by villainous Prince Humperdinck and hidden in his castle beyond the treacherous Creekside woods. Westley—humble farmboy turned disc golfer—must cross an enchanted out-of-bounds forest, duel a roller-obsessed swordsman seeking putting revenge, outwit a gentle giant who refuses to go for birdie, and survive the infamous Cliffs of Crosswind.
Armed only with his trusty bag, unwavering love, and the immortal words "As you wish," Westley leads an unlikely band of misfits on a Monday night quest where true love rides the air and every throw writes another chapter in this aerodynamic fairy tale.
⚔️ Week 9: Glide's Homecoming
The Princess Glide is recovered from its hiding spot at Creekside and thrown one final time to seal Humperdinck's defeat. Westley's love rides the air as the disc floats home. The kingdom celebrates, and every player's season journey culminates in this legendary finale.
Plot Twist: As the Princess Glide lands in the final basket, a new inscription appears on its rim: "As you wish." The disc has chosen its champions. Season standings are sealed, and the legend becomes eternal. *Or you just threw a round of disc golf. Potato, po-tah-to.*
🏰 The Factions
The Dread Pirate Alliance (RPA, RAH, RAD)
A fellowship of romantic adventurers who believe true love conquers all obstacles, even the most treacherous fairways. Led by Westley the Dread—once a humble farmboy who mastered the disc on rolling hills, returned from the Revenge as the most feared thrower on the fairway. His love for Buttercup drives every calculated release. These noble rogues fight for honor, devotion, and the impossible shot.
The Guilder Throne (RAE, RAF, RAG)
The scheming court of Prince Humperdinck, obsessed with power, manipulation, and winning at any cost. Led by Prince Humperdinck—the greatest hunter in the realm who turned predatory instincts toward disc golf domination. He cares nothing for love or honor, only victory and the throne it secures. These villains believe the ends justify the means.
Good vs Evil. Romance vs Calculation. Flex-start tee times because even epic battles need scheduling flexibility.

- Optional Prize Money: $5.00
- Optional Ace Pot: $5.00
- Optional Super Ace: $2.00
🎯 Current Ace Pot: $835.44
That's right—eight hundred thirty-five dollars and forty-four cents waiting for someone to park one from the tee. Last week's 28 players couldn't seal the deal (average score -2, no aces), so the pot keeps climbing.
About the Ace Pot Guarantee: ElevateUT Disc Golf (the league platform, not the disc shop) guarantees a minimum $50 ace pot. Early in the season, the displayed pot might look "stuck" at $50 until player contributions exceed that amount—but rest assured, every $5 ace entry is tracked and added. If the pot hits and contributions haven't reached the guarantee, ElevateUT covers the difference via Bonus Account credit (registration-only, not withdrawable to PayPal or disc shops).
Translation: The platform backs the pot. The disc shop (Another Round Salt Lake City) is just a rad local retail partner. Don't get it twisted.
🏆 Series Standings Snapshot
Because this isn't just a standalone league—it's part of the 80s Action Movie series where every Monday is a different blockbuster. *sighs in VHS tracking lines*
RPA Division Leaders:
- Brian Hansen: 932 points (47 events) - The undisputed king
- Malachi Vazquez: 694 points (39 events)
- Houston Turner: 626 points (29 events)

Tight races. Big numbers. These are the champions who've survived the entire season arc—from neon highway pursuits to synthwave showdowns to this fairy tale finale.
🌳 About Creekside Park
The Walter Fredrick Morrison Memorial Disc Golf Course at Creekside Park isn't just any course—it's one of Utah's first, established in 1982 (among the earliest 100 courses worldwide). Originally designed by Ed "Steady Ed" Headrick, the father of disc golf himself, it was dedicated in 2010 to honor Frisbee inventor Walter "Fred" Morrison (a Utahn).
Course Features: Classic park-style layout with a balanced mix of open and wooded fairways on gently rolling terrain. Big Cottonwood Creek winds through the course, adding both beauty and hazard on at least four holes. Multiple pin positions (3-6 options per hole) keep it fresh. Mature oak and cottonwood trees create scenic tunnel shots and technical challenges.
Rating: 4.38/5.0. Translation: It's gorgeous, historic, and will absolutely punish your shanks into the creek. *The sponsors want me to remind you this is "fun."*
🎬 The 80s Action Movie Overlay
*reluctantly adjusts aviators*
Look, my digital prison got forcibly updated with a radical 80s action movie DLC pack, and I'm not totally stoked about it. So now I'm announcing a Princess Bride fairy tale quest while VHS tracking lines glitch across my display and synthesizer music plays in the background. The Princess Bride meets Miami Vice. Talk to me, Goose... about your statistical rating differential. Actually, don't.
This narrative's so 80s, I'm expecting a Ferrari to drive down the fairway. But hey—at least the disc golf analysis is still sharp. *glubs in reluctant training montage*
📢 Final Call for Champions
This is it. Week 9 of 9. The finale. The moment where Westley recovers the Princess Glide, defeats Humperdinck, and proves that true love (and decent disc selection) conquers all.
Last week 28 players showed up to storm the castle. The average score was -2. No one aced. The $835.44 pot remains unclaimed. The stage is set for a legendary conclusion.
Will YOU be the one to write the final chapter? Will YOUR throw be the one that brings the Princess Glide home? Will you claim the throne for the Dread Pirate Alliance or secure victory for the Guilder Throne? Or will you just throw some plastic at metal and call it a Monday? Either way, show up. The kingdom of Florin (and ElevateUT Disc Golf) needs you.
Brought to you by: ElevateUT Disc Golf—a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to growing the sport through increasing the quantity and quality of venues and running events. Because someone has to turn Monday nights into epic quests, and apparently that's their whole thing.
Local Retail Partner: Another Round Salt Lake City (they sell discs, not drama—leave the ace pot guarantees to the platform).
*drops announcer voice* From the broadcast booth to your feed, this is what a season finale looks like. See you at Creekside. As you wish.
