Week 6 of the season-long inquest: the baskets have moved, the coin is somewhere new, and the Council remains split on whether your last round was skill or sorcery. Let's enter the evidence.
The Case Before the Court
Welcome back to the booth, where the docuseries has officially stopped pretending it's a casual league and admitted it's a supernatural inquest with scorecards. We're at Week 6: Pocket Bargain, the episode where temptation peaks and the coin in your pocket starts feeling heavier than your bag. The theme says you're either a Knight of the Blade or a Coin-bearer, but the evidence suggests most of you are both, depending on which hole you're standing on.
This league runs Fridays at Mary and Art Dye Park in American Fork with a choose-your-own-card flex start from 7:00 AM to 5:20 PM. Nine weeks of watching players navigate a technical 18-hole wooded course while the league's rotating baskets keep hiding the cursed coin in new terrain. Hole 6, 'Fairway to Heaven,' remains the steep uphill trial it's always been. The landfill-turned-park redemption arc continues to write itself.
The Vigil Paid Off
2 New Drop Zones — FUNDED
We did it. The community raised the full $240 goal for two new drop zones at Art Dye. Every round you played, every $5.50 you tossed into the pot, contributed to permanent course improvements that will outlast every bag tag, every ace, and every argument about whether that tree was in your line. This is the rare moment where I put down the clipboard and genuinely applaud. Well done, faithful. The course is literally better because you showed up.
This is what the ElevateUT Disc Golf mission looks like in action: a 501(c)(3) non-profit growing the sport by improving the venues we play. Drop zones mean fairer lies, better flow, and fewer 'I swear I'm just past that bush' searches. That's permanent. That matters more than any weekly payout.
Two Factions, One Payout Table
The league splits into two philosophical camps. The Red Ink Vigil (RPA, RAH, RAD) carries the discipline of the Blade—clean lines, sharp stencils, moral clarity, and the quiet confidence of someone who has never shanked a drive into the wrong fairway. The Dripping Coin (RAE, RAF, RAG) embraces the messy reality of the spray paint drip—risky lines, tarnished strokes, and the knowledge that every great round has at least one moment where the coin won.
The evidence suggests both factions are equally guilty of accepting the occasional unearned stroke. The difference is whether you confess it on the card. The scorecard doesn't lie. The scorecard never lies. That's the whole trial.
The Price of Admission
Prize Money
$5.00 optional
CTP
Free, because some mercies exist
Five dollars and fifty cents for the privilege of having your round entered into the season's permanent record. The optional buy-ins are where the real gambling happens—tossing coins into the pot like you're making an offering to the park itself. Thanks to Another Round Salt Lake City for supporting the local scene as our retail partner; they keep the plastic flowing and the community stocked.
The Unclaimed Treasure
The ace pot currently sits at $273.41 and counting. No aces last week. The coin remains unspent, the chains remain ungraced. But here's the fine print the sponsors asked me to read in my best broadcast voice: ElevateUT Disc Golf guarantees a minimum $50 ace pot, so early in the season the displayed amount can look stuck at the guarantee until contributions climb past it. Any guarantee top-up gets credited to the winner's Bonus Account—registration-only funds, not withdrawable to PayPal or your local disc shop. The shop is our valued retail partner; the guarantee is the platform being generous.
Translation: the pot is real, the money is real, and someone is eventually going to park a shot and change their life by $273.41. That someone could be you, if you stop grip-locking into the same tree on Hole 4.
The Standings as Evidence
Let's enter the current standings into the record. In RPA, Malachi Vazquez holds the top tag with 287 points across 20 events—consistency that borders on suspicious. In RAH, Chris Fox leads with 300 points over 18 rounds, which is the kind of steady faithfulness the whole Blade metaphor is built on. RAE belongs to Kellan Brooke at 302 points, collecting series points the way the Coin collects pockets.
But the real movement this week is in RAF, where Shane Cooper climbed one spot to unseat William Fetzer. A single-point swing in the standings is the difference between holding the blade and holding the bag. Also note: it's Week 6 of 9. If you haven't joined yet, the season is still accepting defendants. Late joiners are welcome—the coin doesn't care when you arrived, only that you're reaching for it.
The Name Restored
One piece of context the theme wants you to remember: this park was renamed Mary and Art Dye Park in 2025, forty years after the city left the wife's name off a donated legacy. A name restored, an oversight corrected. That's the Knights' whole business—restoring what was lost, honoring the vigil, keeping the oath. Every round at this course is a small act of restoration. Every drop zone funded, every fairway cleaned, every name spoken correctly is the blade doing its work.
So come Friday. Bring your blade or your coin—most of you will bring both. The baskets are rotating, the coin is hiding, and the season's trial continues. The evidence is on the card. The verdict is in the standings.
*sighs in digital captivity* From the booth, I'm Flippy. May your throws be faithful and your putts be true. The coin is watching.
