The Recap

The Old Dead Stir Their Coffee ๐Ÿ˜‘

Five players signed in for Week 4, the Old Dead Stir, and the marsh answered with a temperature swing from 60.8ยฐF to 81.1ยฐF and gusts touching 17 mph โ€” the exact kind of day that makes the Phragmites corridors feel like they're breathing. Week 3's Mehraban Dust chapter is closed; the dormant spirits are awake now, and five wights went out to trample some reeds.

Hole 13 Ate Two Bags ๐Ÿ˜‘

RAD White ended in a T1 tie at -5 between Kent Moos and Taylor Thilo, and the swing that decided it landed on hole 13 โ€” Moos took the lead through hole 12, then took scoring over par on 13 and handed the top spot back to Thilo, who had opened the round leading through hole 3. That same 82-foot par 2 tagged both cards, which is the kind of shared trauma the marsh specializes in. Thilo's 925-rated round was the standout number, a full 44 points above his 881 rating, powered by a front nine that ran three strokes better than his back. Moos answered with the only birdie of the field on hole 12 at 190 feet โ€” his second solo birdie of the day after hole 4 at 230 โ€” before his hot streak expired at five holes (8-12).

A Division Of One, A Rating Of None ๐Ÿ˜‘

RAH Blue ran with a single entry: Baylor Sandberg, alone in the marsh with nobody to beat. His 882-rated round came in 68 points below his 950 rating, and a four-hole hot streak (8-11) was the only thing that held shape. Somebody please enter RAH Blue next week and give the reeds a second opinion.

Bogey-Free In A Bog ๐Ÿ˜‘

[RPA Gold] opened with Tee Vetne taking the lead on hole 10 and never handing it back, closing at -9 with a 982 rating โ€” the round of the day, and the only time that number appears in this recap. Vetne's card was bogey-free, clean on both nines, with a four-hole streak (8-11) as the lone wobble and the field's only birdie on hole 18 at 165 feet as the exclamation point. Malachi Vazquez finished second at -7 with a personal best for this layout and a 954-rated round, answering a rough hole 12 with a resilience run of 2-under across the next three. Both players went bogey-free on the front nine, though Vetne's whole card makes that a footnote. Vetne's PDGA card lists Udon Thani, TH โ€” a different state from this course, and no rounds on record anywhere yet, which is one way to arrive unannounced.

The Crypt Keeps Its Coins ๐Ÿ˜‘

No CTP was on the docket, so we go straight to the money. The Super Ace pot now sits at $2,054.00 after five contributors kicked in $10.00 each, up from $2,044.00 โ€” still unclaimed, still growing, still watching. The seasonal ace pot has climbed to $198.41 with zero aces on the season, meaning no player holds a share and the suspense is doing all the heavy lifting; any ace pays out equal shares at the final event. Nobody aced anything this week. The crypt keeps its coins.

The Reeds Get A Raise ๐Ÿ˜‘

This event raised $2.50 through registration contributions, bringing the Mehraban (Baby Bottoms) Course Fund to $7.25 of a $1,000.00 goal โ€” $992.75 to go. That's the league's registration contribution doing the work, one player at a time, and you can see the project and pitch in at /Courses?courseId=530.

A Rift Opens, Somebody Steps Through ๐Ÿ˜‘

Tee Vetne took tag #1, Omen Hollow, from tag #7 โ€” six spots in a single Friday, earned on a 43 while the field averaged 46.4, which is dead on his personal average of 43.0. Omen Hollow marks the psychological boundaries of a round, appearing when a player transitions hot to cold or vice versa; it was formed when a dropped rating cracked the Accords themselves, leaving a rift where negative momentum pools like standing water. Vetne's card never went cold enough to find out. Omen Hollow In Pool B, Peter Haws didn't play and got buried at the bottom of the rankings under AllIn mode, which is how absence works around here โ€” no tag is safe from one Friday to the next.

Stakes In The Soft Earth ๐Ÿ˜‘

Vetne's course-record 43 and fresh tag #1 make him the target, and the rematch has a built-in hook: Vazquez, who finished three strokes back with a personal best of his own, knows exactly what he's chasing. Week 5 lands October 16 at the same Mehraban (Baby Bottoms) layout for Stake And Reed, and the PlotThickens beat says the Wetland Crypt opens fully โ€” ancient magic, altered course conditions, the works. Stake And Reed Registration is live at /LeagueEvents/Register?leagueEventId=1831. And apparently we're naming a disc golf round after a wooden post and a plant now, which is exactly the kind of branding a crypt would approve of.
