Winds of Change: Raptors Ride the Shifting Currents at ElevateUT
As the winds of change blow through the skies of the ElevateUT Raptor Series, the Talon Masters find themselves locked in an aerial dance with shadowy rivals. Week 6's Storm Wing Summit saw competitors vying for control of the ancient hunting grounds, each seeking to ride the shifting currents to victory.
In the MPO division, Houston Finch and Britain Best dueled like two raptors fighting for territory. The lead changed talons an astonishing 4 times, with Finch ultimately claiming the top spot at -8 (1012 rated) and Best settling for second at -5 (984 rated). Just as a falcon adjusts its wings to the wind, these two adapted their strategies mid-flight.
Tyler Waldo soared high above the MA1 field, his -10 round a masterclass in aerial accuracy. Rated at 1032, Waldo's performance was as impressive as an eagle's kill rate - a testament to his precision and power. Nicholas Jennings (+1, 926 rated) and Casey Howard (+2, 917 rated) could only watch from below as Waldo flew unchallenged.
The MP40 division saw a dramatic showdown between Sean Kelley and Zachary Melville, two seasoned hunters who know that in the dance of the disc, precision is the difference between feast and famine. Both shot +8 (859 rated), trading the lead back and forth 3 times before Kelley's clutch final strike on hole 15 secured his victory.
In MA40, Derik Thomas continued to "dance with the wind," harnessing the Kestrel Spiral to shoot +3 (907 rated) and fend off an early challenge from Robert Bumgarner (+9, 850 rated). Thomas's aerial prowess was on full display as he rode the shifting currents to maintain his perch atop the podium.
Dylan Mundy emerged victorious in MA2, his -3 round (965 rated) as precise as a peregrine's dive. Brandon Bumgarner (+6, 878 rated) could only watch as Mundy's discs sliced through the air with unerring accuracy.
In FA2, Marta Villa dominated the skies, shooting +8 to leave Afton Bodell (+13) in her wake. Meanwhile, Collin McCormick was the lone hunter in MA3, posting a +12 (821 rated) as he honed his aerial skills.
The CTP was claimed by none other than Houston Finch, whose 290ft strike on hole 10 threaded the needle like a raptor's talon through unsuspecting prey. That surgical precision netted Finch a tidy $39 - a fitting reward for such a display of aerial mastery.
As the Raptor Series flies on, the Talon Masters will need every ounce of their hard-won hunting wisdom to maintain their perch. The true nature of their rivals remains cloaked in shadow, and the gathering storm threatens to test their resolve like never before. But if the Storm Wing Summit has taught us anything, it's that these aerial warriors will not be easily unseated. The winds of change may blow, but the raptors ride on.
