The River Swells, The Wake Gets Choppy
adjusts headset Four players, a river running loud against the concrete, and a still night at Roots that let every chain hit travel across the water like a signal. Week 3 of 9, and the season's sonic excavation just met its first real interference — the noise arriving before the wind does. The wake is choppy. The choir is thinner than the drums deserve.
A Green Sweep With A 70-Point Echo
Stephen Marks never gave the lead back in RAF Green, wire-to-wire at +1, and the front nine ran three strokes better than the back — a mansion built early, maintained late. The event's round of the day belonged to him too: an 858 sitting 70 points above his 788 rating. He was the only birdie on hole 8 (Par 3, 256ft), where the rest of the field averaged over par, then rode a six-hole par train from 13 through 18 to close it out. William Fetzer took +4 and the missed cash line at 3rd (last cash 2nd), but the rebound story is his: after a double on hole 1, he birdied hole 2 and played 2 under across the next three, then claimed the field's lone birdie on hole 15 (Par 3, 194ft). The scorecard punished the start; the middle and the finish didn't.
A Personal Best In A Choppy Wake
David LaTour takes RAE Red at +2 with an 846-rated round — a personal best for this course and layout, and a 49-point rating swing from last week's 797. He owned the only birdie on hole 7 (Par 3, 269ft), where everyone else averaged over par. The catch: 2nd place, just outside the money (last cash 1st). Kellan Brooke finished +6 on a 795-rated round, 66 points below his 861 rating, though he salvaged the field's sole birdie on hole 16 (Par 3, 270ft). One man drummed his way back into form and got paid in nothing but numbers.
The Pot Keeps Its Secrets 🤫
Three contributors fed the Super Ace Pot this week — $6.00 total — pushing the balance from $1,894.00 to $1,900.00. Still unclaimed. Still split-pot configured. Nineteen hundred dollars sitting there while four players walked past it, and the pot keeps its secrets like the river keeps whatever it's been carrying.
Ninety-Two Percent Of A Promise
The Roots Course Fund took in $2.30 this event: David LaTour tossed in $0.30 from his winnings, and the league added $2.00 from registration. That puts the total at $922.41 of the $1,000.00 goal — 92 percent — with $77.59 left to go. Push it over the line here. The Accords love a near-kept promise.
Absence Writes In Ink 🖋️
Britain Best didn't play this week, and under AllIn mode's full reshuffle, that silence got written down. Absence means demotion: Best slid to the bottom of the rankings and surrendered the #1 Ink Wraith tag.
The Wraith is the spectral chronicler of Accords debt, a seven-foot figure of shifting ink that shows players glimpses of their potential fate through the void where its face should be — and it feeds on every curse that manifests. No tag was safe this week. That's the whole point.
The Wind Learns To Aim 🌬️
The interference isn't visual anymore. The gallery members who weren't there have stopped just watching — the wind is carrying throws off line now, guided by unseen hands, and Week 4's Par Ghosts lands Thursday, October 8 at Roots on the Grave Roots League Layout.
Carry the thread forward: registration is open, and if the air itself is picking sides, bring an extra midrange. Playing through a haunted gallery that keeps moving the air is, and I say this with love, an absurd way to spend a Thursday.
