Scarlet Covenant

The Scarlet Covenant emerged not from a single act, but from the accumulated weight of ten thousand near-misses and fatal putts. Each drop of competitive blood and moment of desperate hope shed on the frontier slowly coalesced into a spectral contract, its terms written in scarlet across the collective memory of the wasteland.

The Covenant has no single physical form, but manifests as faint, shimmering red lines that briefly connect competitors during pivotal moments. Its terms are felt intuitively as a cold certainty about the rules of engagement. It cannot be destroyed, only acknowledged or violated, with violation bringing immediate supernatural misfortune. It grows stronger with each league as more participants add their blood-oath to its ledger.

It is the metaphysical framework and source code of the Deadlands, the series-spanning entity that enables and enforces the supernatural law of 'cull and remember' upon which every competition is built.
