Briar Testament

The first survivor to cross the Briar Patch of the southern Deadlands emerged with thorns embedded in their skin, and when they finally pulled them free, they found the thorns had taken root and bloom. They carried this living testament of their passage as proof that the frontier could wound but never fully claim them.

The Briar Testament manifests as thorny vines that embed permanently into the bearer's flesh but can be pulled, leaving wounds that bloom black roses within twenty-four hours. The testament appears as organic, twisting lines across the body - part tattoo, part living vine - with a faint glow visible in moonlight that allows others to recognize survivors at a distance. These thorns cannot be stolen or transferred; if separated from the bearer, they wither and die.

The Briar Testament marks those who have proven they can endure anything the Deadlands throw at them - not the fastest or most aggressive, but the most resilient. Bearers represent the philosophy that survival itself is victory, and that the frontier's harshness can be survived rather than conquered.
