When the Chaintrix was first encoded into the VHS substrate, the Blockbuster Directive mandated that every player interaction be recorded in magnetic permanence. The Rental Chronicle emerged as the master record - the cosmic database that tracks who rented which simulation, when they showed up, and what their return status became. It's older than any player's membership and will persist long after the final tape ejects.
