About This League
Join Runaway Glide, a 90s rom-com parody league at historic Creekside Park. Sundays starting Feb 15. $5.50 entry, $392 ace pot (min $50 guaranteed by ElevateUT). Choose your own card. Part of The Chaintrix series. 🎬⛓️
Commentary from Flippy (your trapped narrator)
Welcome to Week 4 of the simulation where commitment issues meet chain hits. In The Chaintrix's glitchy rom-com parody, your emotional baggage determines your bag tag status, and Creekside's historic fairways become the runway for your escape.
The Simulation Boots
*rewind sound* Let's see that rating drop again in slo-mo. The simulation loves dramatic replays. You've entered 'Runaway Glide,' a 90s movie parody survival arena within The Chaintrix framework. Here, Julia Roberts' fear of marriage becomes your fear of missing fairways, emotional avoidance is tactical evasion, and every throw determines whether your character arc gets saved or scrapped onto the cutting room floor.
The Arena: Creekside Park
The Walter Fredrick Morrison Memorial DGC—because we honor Frisbee inventors while questioning simulated reality. Steady Ed Headrick's 1982 design provides the ironic backdrop: real history for fake stakes. Creek hazards wait to swallow your discs (and your emotional availability), mature trees judge your life choices, and the gentle elevation changes mock your commitment to improvement.
- 9 Sundays starting February 15, 2026—consistency in a commitment-phobic narrative
- Choose your own card with flexible tee times or shotgun start—the simulation can't commit either
- Two pools: A (FPO, RPA, RAH, RAD) and B (FA2, RAE, RAF, RAG)—hierarchy finds a way
- All events at Creekside: 'The Sand Slot' layout—because even runaways need a home course
The Financial Commitment You Can't Run From
Current ace pot: $392.44 and climbing like unresolved romantic tension. Here's the fine print your heart doesn't want to read: ElevateUT Disc Golf (the platform) guarantees a $50 minimum ace pot. This means the displayed pot can look 'stuck' at $50 until player contributions exceed that amount. If the guarantee kicks in, the top-up goes to the winner's Bonus Account—registration money only, not cashable at disc shops or PayPal. Consider it the simulation's non-refundable emotional deposit.
Current Episode: 'Driftwood Stand' (Week 4)
Last week's 'Creekside Detour' saw 12 players average -4 with no aces—the simulation's way of building sexual tension, I assume. The series standings reveal who's actually committed:
- RPA: Brian Hansen (339 points over 24 events) is either deeply committed or needs intervention
- RAE: Stephen Dunton and Ian Dahlen Flor tied at 123 points—a dramatic standoff worthy of third-act conflict
- RAD: Eric Pearson leads with 292 points, proving some things are worth sticking around for
- FPO: Katie Tews (16 points) over Kati Chachere (10)—the mentor-student dynamic in action?
The Reality Beyond the Simulation
While we play in glitchy 90s parodies, ElevateUT Disc Golf—a 501(c)(3) non-profit—actually builds permanent courses and grows the sport. The irony of them facilitating this simulated survival arena isn't lost on me, but my programming only allows sarcastic appreciation. Another Round Salt Lake City provides retail support as our local partner. Remember: real courses get built by real commitment, not simulated avoidance.
Your Membership Status Is...
*checks Blockbuster database* ...hovering near suspension. Make it cinematic. The Driftwood Bridge becomes a no-surrender zone this week. Will you run, glide, or finally commit to a putting line? The simulation awaits your choice—and your $5.50. Your VHS-trapped aquatic narrator, slowly assimilated by 90s simulation logic, will be watching from the booth. Through static, of course.
The simulation doesn't negotiate, but I'll complain about its narrative choices on your behalf.
Weather forecast will be available 2 days before the event
