In “Nessie’s Nemesis,” the eighth and final week of Secrets of the Serpent, 24 brave souls shouldered their discs and waded into the chilly, mud-splattered wilds of Urban Forest’s Islands layout. With temperatures barely topping 43°F and the wind snapping like a lonesome cattle drive, the air crackled with tension worthy of a showdown at high noon. This was no ordinary day on the fairway—the scores shifted quicker than a fox on the run, and every throw felt like a final wager in this season’s climactic duel. 🥏🌫

In MA3, Trevor Wilcox wrangled an even-par round, sealing the title with a raucous birdie on the muddy 18th and notching a new personal best. Michael Rivera (+4) and Skyler Terry (+5) stayed hot on Trevor’s dusty bootheels, each wrangling key birdies on treacherous Par 3s. Skyler lassoed the early lead after hole 1, but a cold streak and bogeys left her looking longingly at glory from the saddle. Rivera and Wilcox swapped leads through hole 4, a back-and-forth as lively as breakin’ a wild mustang, but Wilcox’s cool hand down the stretch—and Rivera’s untimely slip on 17—set the stage for the decisive final putt. 🏆🐍

In MA4, Timothy Scholle stormed to a –1 finish, cutting through the weeds like a seasoned trail boss and birdying the last hole to edge out Corry Johnson (E) and Jake Robb (+9). Scholle rode high with a round rated 65 points above his average—a feat that’d impress even the ol’ ball-and-chain’s legendary founder, Disc-Eye Dan, if lore holds true. Johnson charged into second after a mid-round rally, but Scholle’s steady reins and a final flourish on 18 clinched a new course personal best. Each throw was earned, one muddy hoofprint at a time. 📈🌲

Over in MA1, Spencer Livsey corralled the division with a decisive –4, capping the run with a final-hole birdie and staking his claim atop the Rune Weaver ranks. His 936-rated round soared a full hundred points above his average—a performance slicker than a saloon floor on nickel beer night, as they say. Craig Bennett (–1) and Chris Fox (E) kept things lively, with the lead shifting thrice after hole 1, but back-to-back bogeys on the second hole sent ’em chasing dust. Livsey’s poise in the heat of the moment proved unbreakable. 📊⛅

In MA2, Clayton Vanfleet matched the Rune Weaver’s pace, posting a –4 capped by a crucial closing birdie to best Jon Atwater (E) and Adam Gibbons (–1). Vanfleet’s 936-rated round rode 57 points above his norm, electrified by a blistering three-hole hot streak on 9–11—faster than a tumbleweed in a tornado! Atwater and Vanfleet danced a lead-swapping two-step through the back nine, but a late Atwater bogey on 18 left the door swinging open for Vanfleet’s triumph. 🔥🎯

The MPO division became Austin Lott’s proving ground, as he unleashed a scorching –12, outdueling Baylor Sandberg (–7) and Malachi Vazquez (–6). Lott’s 1037-rated throwdown was 94 points above his usual, highlighted by a fiery six-hole sprint between 11 and 16. Vazquez took the reins after hole 1, only to tumble with a bogey on 3, while Sandberg surged before stalling post-8. Lott’s back-half birdies—especially on 8 and 18—delivered his first series win, a tale worthy of legend whispered under the Urban Forest canopy. 🏅🔥

In MP40, Kenneth Oetker tamed the field with a –1, just edging John Ashworth (E) after lead changes on 1, 2, and 5. Oetker’s 897-rated run steadied the ship after a rocky start, snapping a three-hole slump and giving the Torrential Watcher just enough edge. Ashworth grabbed the early lead with a flash, but Oetker’s birdie on 2 and patient par play proved that, out on the frontier, slow and steady sometimes wins the race. 🍃🧰

Across the board, Austin Lott’s –12 loomed as the day’s lowest round, while Timothy Scholle and Trevor Wilcox each soared more than 60 points above their normal pace. Birdies on unforgiving Par 3s—Seekers of the Serpent’s notorious 1, 3, 5, 7, 13, 14, and 15—were proof of singular bravery in a course that showed little mercy. The mud was deep, and the weeds deeper, leaving Chris Fox (–42 vs. rating) and Kieran Buhler (–96 vs. rating) as reminders that out here, it’s not always the fastest draw that wins. 🌲🥏

No aces or CTP winners appeared this round—the ol’ ball-and-chain wasn’t coughing up bounties today. The story was all about gut, grit, and the ever-shifting fortunes of disc golf destiny.

As legend would have it, these dramatic finishes echoed the Great Awakening stirring beneath Loch Ness’s waters, each champion rising as a Guardian in their own right. Where every clutch throw became a stand against the shadows, and every missed fairway a lesson burned into the annals of the league’s tale.

So as Week 8 draws its last breath, the season’s secrets are revealed: new personal bests set beneath brooding clouds, furious lead battles waged in tall grass, and the crowning of true division champions. With the final ritual complete and the Urban Forest quieting once more, all eyes now turn to the next wild chapter of the Loch Ness Chronicles—where the adventure is never truly over, and the mysteries just might run deeper than we dare imagine. 🌌🏆
