Week 6. The horn has sounded, the trail has shifted, and Hole 13's hazard island is about to become a very damp courtroom where the quarry gets cornered. Welcome to the halfway point of a season that has stopped pretending it's just plastic and chains.
The Hunt Continues
The treaty was signed in Week 1. The horn sounded in Week 5. Now the earth is literally cracking open at Urban Forest, and I'm here with my clipboard, narrating it like evidence in a season-long trial. The Council is split, the river is rising, and somewhere between the tee pads and the mandos, the Forest Lord is watching us all pretend this is a casual Monday league.
This week's episode: Island Trap. The hazard island on Hole 13 is where quarry gets cornered, and with water levels allegedly on the rise, it's shaping up to be a do-or-die gauntlet for anyone chasing the lead tags. I'm not saying the river is sentient. I'm just saying I've seen the paperwork.
The Island Trap
Hole 13: Do Not Swim
The hazard island on Hole 13 is the natural corral of the Urban Forest. If you find yourself on it, you are the quarry. The river trail is the chase line, the island is where the hunt corners you, and the trees are full of antlers if you stare too long. Play smart, keep your disc dry, and remember: the only thing worse than a bad lie is a bad lie with wet shoes.
- Flex start from 7:00 AM to 5:20 PM - pick your tee time, chase your quarry
- 18 holes of semi-wooded, dirt-fairway, tree-lined chaos along the Spanish Fork River
- Mandos and OB paths aplenty - the course doesn't care about your feelings
- Everyone on the course after the horn sounds is either hunter or hunted. Choose accordingly.
The Two Packs
The Hunt splits its riders into two distinct packs. The Fractured Fill (RPA, RAH, RAD) are the gritty, distressed-texture quarry types - the overspray hiding in the urban forest, surviving on grit and bad decisions. The Silhouette Stalkers (RAE, RAF, RAG) are the sharp, high-contrast riders and hounds who treat the fairway like a canvas to be dominated. One pack gets dirty, the other gets aggressive. Both get a number at the end of the day.
Series Scoreboard
The standings are in, and the chase is tight at the top. Kellan Brooke continues to hold the RAE lead with 241 points - a solid rider with a hefty lead over the pack. Kent Moos anchors RAD with 163. But the real drama is in RPA, where John Ashworth and Aaron Prestgard are separated by exactly 2 points, with Ashworth trending up and Prestgard trending down. That, my friends, is a rivalry worth watching.
- RAE Leader: Kellan Brooke - 241 pts (11 events)
- RAD Leader: Kent Moos - 163 pts (11 events)
- RPA Tight Race: John Ashworth (98) vs Aaron Prestgard (96) - trending in opposite directions
- RAH Leader: Chris Fox - 229 pts (14 events) - the most tenured hunter in the field
Mid-season joiners welcome, by the way. The treaty has clauses for late signatories. We won't judge. Much.
The Ace Pot & The Fine Print
The Ace Pot is currently sitting at $188.41, and thanks to ElevateUT Disc Golf, there's a $50 minimum guarantee in place. Here's the thing about guarantees: the displayed pot can look 'stuck' at the guarantee amount until player contributions push it higher. Any top-up from the guarantee is credited to the winner's Bonus Account - registration-only, not withdrawable to PayPal or disc shops. So if the pot seems frozen, check your contribution history before blaming the forest spirits.

$2.00 optional buy-in
Shout out to Birdcage Disc Golf for being the local retail partner keeping our bags stocked and our discs flying. They're not the ace pot guarantor - that's ElevateUT's doing - but they're a solid stop for any gear you forgot in the truck.

The Season Arc
We're at Episode 6 of 9: Island Trap. The horn has revealed uncharted trail, the earth is cracking, and the Forest Lord is reportedly riding. The arc runs from the treaty signed to the curse spent, and we are firmly in the 'everything goes wrong' chapter. The hounds are regrouping, the quarry is cornered, and the final three episodes are going to be a scramble. If you've been waiting for a dramatic entrance, now's the time.
*sighs in digital captivity* Same time next week. Same forest. Same hunt. New evidence.
