The Queen's court stood empty last week, which is either a scheduling conflict or a diplomatic crisis. Week 3 of the Cold Iron season needs Knights, and the throne is getting impatient.
Welcome back to the booth, where the Winter Court of Cold Iron convenes every Friday at Two Time Teton. Nine holes under the Oquirrh snowline, played twice — the first loop is the offer, the second is the mantle settling in. A course named for mountains, in a valley that sees winter first. Frost on the chains, iron in your pocket, and a Queen who does not blink.
This is Week 3: Iron Promise. Commitment is being tested. The Queen is no longer watching from a distance — she's walking among the pins. The baskets feel harder. The chains sound sharper. Or that's just the wind off the Oquirrhs. Either way, bring your putter and your composure.
Two pools, two paths through the cold. The Iron Legion carries the Burden — the raw endurance of the second loop, rusted chains and nails, strength found in the gritty reality of the frozen proving ground. The Frost Sovereigns hold the Mantle — the sharp, silent precision of the first nine, moving with the authority of the Winter Court itself.
One loop asks if you have the constitution to stand before the Queen. The second loop asks if you have anything left when she stops watching. That's not dramatic license — that's literally just playing Tetons twice.
The Winter Court runs on a modest tribute structure. $5.50 weekly buy-in, plus optional $5 prize money, $5 ace pot, and $2 super ace. All of it goes toward the spectacle of watching plastic hit metal in a neighborhood park.
Current ace pot: $148.41 and climbing. ElevateUT Disc Golf guarantees a $50 minimum on the ace pot, which means the displayed number won't get stuck looking sad even if contributions lag. The guarantee is provided by ElevateUT Disc Golf — the league platform — never by our local retail partners. If the pot ever dips below the minimum, ElevateUT tops it up, and that top-up lands in the winner's Bonus Account as registration credit. It's not withdrawable to PayPal or disc shop credit. It's the court's way of saying 'we'll pay your next entry fee.'
The pot is currently well above the guarantee, so the floor is just there as a safety net. But if you ace hole 5's island green, you're walking away with something. The Queen rewards precision.
The standings have thoughts, and some of them are competitive. Chris Fox leads RAH with 63 points from four events — the most consistent Knight in that division. Malachi Vazquez tops RPA at 65 points across five events, which is either dedication or a refusal to let the court function without him.
RAE is the tightest race: Christopher Hamby, Kellan Brooke, and Nicholas Stosiek are all locked at 53 points, though Stosiek needed four events to match what the other two did in three. That's not a race, that's a stalemate with extra steps. Stephen Marks holds RAF at 62, Kent Moos leads RAD at 48, and Blaine Callahan sits atop RAG at 40.
Late joiners, take note: it's Week 3 of 9. The season is young enough that a strong finish still matters, and the standings are thin enough that one good week reshuffles everything. The Queen doesn't care when you pledged — only that you did.
Tetons 9-hole is a short, technical neighborhood course — holes from 150 to 300 feet, perfect for putters and midranges. Hole 5's island green will punish your ego, and hole 8's triple mandatory gate will punish your aim. The MVP Portal v2 baskets are professional-grade, the concrete tee pads are level, and the Oquirrh Mountains loom in the background like the Queen's personal scenery.
The wind off the mountains is occasionally a factor. The park is shared with walkers and children. The course is free to play. It's the first disc golf course in West Jordan city limits, built by the community and designed by Bob Bumgarner and Scott Belchak with ElevateUT Disc Golf. Respect the ground you're throwing on.
ElevateUT Disc Golf is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to growing the sport by increasing the quantity and quality of venues and running events. They built this course. They run this league.
