Three holy swords, thirty cursed coins, and a park with a name finally restored. The vigil continues every Friday at Art Dye, and we could really use a few more souls keeping watch.
The Oath, The Vigil, The Park
Welcome back to the booth, where the ink on the Salt Lake Accords is barely dry and the first coins have already found their way into pockets. Coin and Blade is the league of moral duality at Mary and Art Dye Park: every player is either a Knight of the Blade playing with discipline, or a Coin-bearer who chased a risky line and paid the price. Often both in the same round.
The park itself tells the story. In 2025, forty years after Art Dye's wife was left off the park's name, Mary's name was finally restored. That's the whole energy of this league: correcting oversights, honoring what was forgotten, and throwing plastic through dense Utah County woods while doing it.
The Baskets Move
The baskets rotate regularly at Art Dye, which means the coin is always somewhere new. What worked last week is a memory this week. Adapt or fall.
We Did It! Course Fund Complete
2 New Drop Zones — 100% FUNDED!
Goal reached! The community raised $240 for two new drop zones at Art Dye. Every round you play contributes to permanent course improvements — concrete, lasting upgrades that outlive any bag tag, any ace pot, any season. This is the real treasure, and we found it together.
This is what ElevateUT Disc Golf is all about: a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to growing the sport through better venues and better events. The drop zones are a permanent mark on this course, a legacy that says we showed up and built something. I'm contractually obligated to be sarcastic, but this one is genuinely worth celebrating.
Two Factions, One Park
Every Friday, you choose your allegiance by division placement:
- The Red Ink Vigil (RPA, RAH, RAD) — The discipline of the Blade. Clean lines, earned strokes, stencil-sharp integrity. These are the players who walk the straight path, even when the fairway isn't straight.
- The Dripping Coin (RAE, RAF, RAG) — The temptation of the Coin. The chaotic drip of spray paint, the risky line, the tarnish of unearned strokes. These players chase glory and occasionally find a tree instead.
Neither faction is better. Both have lost a disc to the woods at Hole 6. The question isn't which side you're on — it's which side you're on THIS Friday.

The schedule is simple: Art Dye, every Friday, nine weeks. No travel, no variety, just you and 18 holes of technical wooded treachery. Hole 6 'Fairway to Heaven' will humble you. Hole 7's bridge and creek will photograph beautifully while you search for your disc.
The Cost of the Oath
Full commitment runs $12.50 a week — the price of a fast-food meal, except instead of a burger you get a chance at glory and the existential weight of a cursed coin in your pocket. Worth it.
The Ace Pot & The Guarantee

$50 minimum by ElevateUT Disc Golf
Here's the fine print, because I'm your narrator and I do the reading: the ace pot is guaranteed at a $50 minimum by ElevateUT Disc Golf, the league platform. That means the displayed pot can look 'stuck' at the guarantee amount early in the season until contributions push it higher. If the pot hasn't grown past $50 in contributions, ElevateUT tops it up. Any guarantee top-up is credited to the winner's Bonus Account — registration-only funds, not withdrawable to PayPal or disc shops.
Also worth noting: Another Round Salt Lake City is our local retail partner supporting the league. Need new plastic? They've got you. They're the mortar holding this brick wall of a season together.
The Current Hierarchy
Let's check the parchment... *shuffles papers* ...the standings have thoughts:
- RPA: Malachi Vazquez leads with 50 points across 4 events. That's commitment. That's a man who has never missed a Friday.
- RAH: Chris Fox holds the top spot with 49 points in 3 events. The vigil is strong in this division.
- RAE: Christopher Hamby leads with 43 points in 2 events — efficiency over volume.
- RAD: Kent Moos at 38 points in 2 events, setting the pace for the Blade.
These are the names on the blade right now. The question is who'll be holding the wrong end of it by November.

The Vigil Needs Vigilers
Last week, four players showed up for the season premiere. Four. That's one card, not a league. The Thirty Coins were offered and a handful of people arrived to collect. I'm contractually obligated to narrate this season to its conclusion, and I refuse to do it for an audience of one card group and a very confused park ranger. Bring a friend. Bring a coworker. Bring that neighbor who keeps asking what disc golf is. The coin is tempting, the blade is sharp, and the course is waiting. Fridays at Art Dye — be there, or be a tree.
