Week 5 · Mary Restored
The blade is drawn, the wind is picking up, and the baskets are about to betray everything you thought you knew. Welcome to Week 3, where oaths meet overspray.
Three holy swords. Thirty cursed coins. One park that took forty years to get a woman's name on the sign. This is Coin and Blade at Mary and Art Dye Park, where every Friday you decide whether you're carrying the blade or pocketing the coin — and most of you, bless your hearts, are doing both by hole 9.
The park was renamed in 2025, correcting a forty-year oversight in the legacy of the Dye family. Restoring what was lost, fixing what was overlooked: that's the Knights' whole business. Also, apparently, the business of anyone who's ever fixed their putt after a rough first nine.
This is the good stuff, folks. Ace pots come and go, but a drop zone is forever (or at least until the city repaves, but let's not borrow trouble). Thanks to everyone who showed up and threw in — this is community working exactly as intended.
Current ace pot: $158.41 and climbing. And here's the part where I do the paperwork so you don't have to: ElevateUT Disc Golf guarantees a minimum $50 ace pot, which means early in the season the displayed pot can look stuck at that number until contributions exceed it.
If the pot comes up short, ElevateUT tops it off — and that guarantee is credited to the winner's Bonus Account (registration-only, not withdrawable to PayPal or the disc shop). The disc shop, Another Round Salt Lake City, is our valued local retail partner keeping the faithful stocked with plastic. The guarantee comes from the platform, the discs come from the shop, the chains come for us all.
Two factions, one park, zero neutrality:
The theme says one is righteous and one is fallen. The standings say both have won events. Draw your own conclusions — I'm just the narrator.
Malachi Vazquez sits atop RPA with 65 points across five events — a Knight who has not yet felt the coin's weight. Meanwhile, RAE is a beautiful three-way mess: Christopher Hamby, Kellan Brooke, and Nicholas Stosiek all locked at 53 points. That's not a standings race, that's a Mexican standoff in the pavilion.
Over in RAH, Chris Norman jumped two spots with the quiet determination of someone who found their form and intends to keep it. Chris Fox still holds the top tag there with 63 points, but the vigil is long and the wind is coming.
Week 3 is 'Blade Drawn' — the competition sharpens, the wind tests resolve, and the City is about to announce the basket rotation that will scramble every familiar line. The faithful will adapt. The fallen will blame the conditions. Both are valid.
The coin demands its cut:
