Week 6 · Pocket Bargain
The temptation peaks. Players are offered 'bargains'—risky lines that could save strokes but cost penalties. Flippy narrates the cards with dry humor, counting how many times the coin wins over the blade on a specific tricky hole.
Welcome to the vigil, where every Friday at Art Dye you choose: the blade's clean line or the coin's tarnished shortcut. The baskets rotate, the name is restored, and somehow I'm still narrating this.
This is the part where I drop the theater for a second. Bag tags fade. A drop zone stays. Thanks to everyone who threw into the pot — the park literally wouldn't be the same without you.
Coin and Blade: three holy swords, thirty cursed coins, and a park whose name was restored after forty years of oversight. Mary Dye's name is back on the sign, and every round here is a little vigil for what was lost and found. You carry a blade when you play with discipline. You pocket a coin when you chase the risky line or accept a stroke you didn't earn. Most of you do both in the same round. I keep count.
This is week 5 of 9 — the 'Mary Restored' episode. The mid-season slump is real, the coin is heavy, and the baskets have already moved once. If you haven't joined yet, the arc is still open. The faithful get their names in the parchment; the fallen get redemption arcs. Both are available.
The Red Ink Vigil holds the blade: RPA, RAH, and RAD players who keep the sharp lines and clean strokes. The Dripping Coin holds the temptation: RAE, RAF, and RAG players who know the overspray is part of the art. The theme wants this to be a moral choice. The standings suggest it's more of a personality test.
The baskets rotate regularly, so the coin is always somewhere new. What looks like a parked putt one week is a death putt the next. Adapt or fall — the fallen are welcome here too. That's the whole point of the vigil: keeping watch over the ones who stumbled.
A modest tribute for a shot at glory. The Mortal Crime Baron handles the payouts, and thanks to Another Round Salt Lake City for supporting the league as a local retail partner — they keep the plastic flowing.
The ace pot is sitting at $228.41 and growing. No aces last week — the chains stayed silent, but the pot keeps whispering. ElevateUT Disc Golf guarantees a minimum $50 ace pot, so even if contributions dip, the winner gets paid. Note: the displayed pot can look 'stuck' at the guarantee amount until contributions exceed it. Let's check who's been keeping their oath. In the Red Ink Vigil, Kent Moos holds the top spot with 163 points — steady as a stencil. Chris Fox leads RAH with 229 points and 14 events played; that's not a vigil, that's a residency. Malachi Vazquez tops RPA with 217 points, anchored like a tee pad.
Over in the Dripping Coin, Kellan Brooke is running away with RAE at 241 points — at this point the coin is just a decoration on their scorecard. Stephen Marks leads RAF with 140, and Blaine Callahan holds RAG with 100.
The movers: Taylor Thilo climbed a spot in RAD while Skyler Kunz slipped. Tongia Vakaafi edged up over Thomas Sautel in RAH. Kenneth Oetker and Aaron Prestgard are both pushing upward in RPA. The parchment is shifting, and the season's only halfway done.
The story: thirty coins offered, a first sword drawn, a vigil in American Fork, a name restored. The park was renamed Mary and Art Dye in 2025, forty years after the wife's name was left off a donated legacy. That's the Knights' whole business — restoring what was overlooked. The coin is always hidden somewhere new because the baskets keep moving, and every round is a chance to find it or refuse it.
I'm just the narrator — the woman with the clipboard in the booth nobody built. I've heard every confession on the card, and I still keep count of the coins. *sighs in digital captivity*
Week 5 of 9. The arc is still open, the story's still being written, and the drop zones are already funded — you'd be joining a course that's literally improving under your feet. New players get the same blades and the same coins as everyone else. The only wrong move is not showing up. ElevateUT Disc Golf keeps this whole thing running as a 501(c)(3) — every fee goes back into growing the sport and the venues. That's an oath worth signing.
