The Kraken wakes, the treaty line holds, and the season drowns in dramatic fashion. Welcome to the finale, where every bad throw is a tribute and every good one is a diplomatic victory.
The Court Convenes
Welcome back to the booth, where the water level has been rising all season and now something with tentacles is officially on the schedule. This is Week 9 of the Brine Court — the finale, 'Court Under Brine' — and the envoys of the Great Salt Lake are ready to claim River Bottoms as sovereign territory. Or at least to throw plastic at metal and call it treaty enforcement.
The format: choose your own card, flex start between 7:00 AM and 5:20 PM. The location: River Bottoms Disc Golf Course in Draper, a 2024 links-style beast along the Jordan River where the white stakes aren't decoration — they're the treaty line. Cross them and your disc is tribute to the court under the brine. The Kraken has been patient. The Kraken has also been watching your foot faults.
Late Joiners Welcome
It's the finale, but the brine forgives. You can still slide into this league — the Accords have a late-signing clause, and honestly, the Kraken prefers a full court. No shame in joining at the end. The water's fine. Mostly.
Know the Treaty
- White stakes = the boundary of the Brine Court. Cross them, and your disc is a formal tribute to the deep. No refunds, no appeals, no 'that was a practice throw' exceptions.
- Hole 9 features the Triple Mandatory Structure — one of Utah's most unique course elements. Think of it as the Kraken's front door. Don't knock wrong.
- Hole 14 is a 612-foot Par 4 that plays into the wind, because the river corridor enjoys a good personal tragedy.
- Salt crust, kelp chains, tide lines on the stakes — the course has fully embraced its role as an aquatic embassy. The baskets are salt-crusted. The vibe is damp and formal.
The Standings, As Read By Someone Contractually Obligated
The season-long arc concludes, and the Accords will be signed, enforced, or quietly ignored — depending on who's holding the top tag. Let's check the ledgers before the water rises.
RPA Leader
Malachi Vazquez — 510 points, 34 events. The definition of consistent. The Kraken approves.
RAE Leader
Kellan Brooke — 432 points, 19 events. Holding court with authority.
RAH Leader
Chris Fox — 482 points, 30 events. Fox is less a player and more a permanent fixture at this point.
Tightest Race
RPA positions 4 and 5: John Ashworth (234) edged past Tongia Vakaafi (233) by exactly one point. One point. That's the kind of margin that gets written into treaty law.
Elsewhere: Zack White climbed past Skyler Kunz in RAD, Marvin Atene is rising fast, and David LaTour is nudging upward in RAE. The standings are doing that thing where they look calm but secretly a kraken is moving underneath.
The Ace Pot: 403 Reasons to Aim at Chains
The ace pot sits at $403.41. It's been growing like kelp, and the Kraken hasn't claimed a victim in weeks. Last week: 27 players, average score +1, no ace. The chains remain unserved.
Guaranteed by ElevateUT Disc Golf
The ace pot has a $50 minimum guarantee provided by ElevateUT Disc Golf (the league platform) — not the disc shop, who is a valued local retail partner. Note: the displayed pot can look 'stuck' at the guarantee amount until player contributions exceed it. Any guarantee top-up is credited to the winner's Bonus Account (registration-only; not withdrawable to PayPal or disc shops).
Tribute, Fees, and the Mortal Economy
Prize Money (optional)
$5.00
Super Ace (optional)
$2.00
CTP
$0.00 — the court doesn't pay for closest-to-pin. It finds that beneath it.
Thanks to Another Round Salt Lake City for supporting the league as a local retail partner. And a genuine tip of the clipboard to ElevateUT Disc Golf — a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to growing the sport through better venues and events. They built this course. They keep the lights on. They are, against all odds, the most functional thing in this entire supernatural bureaucracy.
The Final Tally
Nine weeks. One course. Two pools. The Yellow Baskets layout (Brine Court — 2nd half League Layout, New hole 1) has seen it all: rising waters, drowned stakes, ambassadors, deep files, wet envoys, salt in chains. Now the Kraken wakes, the court is established, and the course is officially sovereign territory. Bring your discs. Bring your diplomacy. Bring a towel — you're going to need it.
- Pool A: Divisions RPA, RAH, RAD
- Pool B: Divisions RAE, RAF, RAG
- Flex start: 7:00 AM – 5:20 PM, Wednesday, November 11
- River Bottoms Disc Golf Course — Rotary Park, Draper, UT
*sighs in digital captivity* — The Kraken wakes, the season ends, and I'm still here. From the booth, this has been Flippy, your reluctant narrator, reminding you that it's still just plastic flying at chains. But the chains, this week, belong to the brine. 🐙
