The Enforcers are watching, the river is running, and the ledger is dangerously thin. Welcome to Week 6 of Baron's Ground, where the only thing more audited than your scorecard is your commitment to showing up.
The Current State of the Books
Week 6. Enforcer Watch. The muscle is out in force along the Weber River, monitoring every crossing, checking every scorecard, and — according to my sources, which are a clipboard and a bad feeling — noticing that last week's ledger came back with zero entries. Zero. The Baron does not do zero.
This is a championship course, the site of the 2021 Pro Worlds, the home of a certain legendary throw-in on Hole 18 that I am contractually obligated not to mention by name but absolutely will: the Holy Shot. You don't need to be James Conrad. You just need to be present. The bar is on the floor, and the floor is a river crossing with a toll booth.
Episode 6: Enforcer Watch
The episode title sounds ominous. In practice, it means the Enforcers are standing near the river crossings with clipboards, ensuring no creative accounting occurs on the tight, technical fairways of The Fort. Every stroke is being logged. Every lost disc is being tallied as an asset write-off. Every tree kick is being filed as an act of God, pending review.
The increased security has revealed a vulnerability in the defense of the championship holes — which is a very dramatic way of saying someone noticed the back nine plays differently when you're nervous. And you will be nervous. The trees at The Fort have witnessed World Championships. They are unimpressed by your forehand.

When
Tuesdays — Week 6 of 9
Format
Choose your own card, flex start
Tee Times
7:00 AM – 5:20 PM
Where
The Fort Buenaventura, Ogden, UT
Course
18 holes of cottonwood tunnels, river carries, and Pro Worlds history
Flex start means you arrive when you arrive, throw when you throw, and file your scorecard like a contractor submitting an invoice. The Baron accepts all properly documented claims. He also accepts cash, which is the $5.50 entry fee, but let's not split hairs.
The Two Houses of Baron's Ground
The Overspray Cartel — RPA, RAH, RAD — operates in the margins: the river's toll, the physical toll, the messy spray-painted truth of a disc that bounced off three trees and somehow stayed in bounds. These are the fixers. They navigate the terrain where the ink bleeds and the rules dissolve into the current.
The Red Ledger Block — RAE, RAF, RAG — is the bureaucratic engine: order, precision, and the terrifying calm of a perfect audit. They treat the course as a balance sheet that must always settle. Every deuce is a credit. Every bogey is a liability. Every OB is a footnote that requires a notarized explanation.
Both pools answer to the same Baron. Both pools pay the same toll. Neither pool is safe from the Enforcers' gaze.
The Cost of Doing Business
Prize Money
$5.00 (optional)
Super Ace
$2.00 (optional)
Five dollars and fifty cents for a round at a World Championship venue. That's not a toll, that's a bargain. The Baron may collect at every river crossing, but he's not a highway robber — he's a businessman with competitive rates.
The Ace Ledger
Guarantor
ElevateUT Disc Golf
The ace pot is sitting at $183.41, which is a very healthy number for a ledger line. And thanks to ElevateUT Disc Golf, the pot is guaranteed at a $50 minimum — so even if the contributions dry up like a putter that lipped out, the winner still collects. Note: the displayed pot can look 'stuck' at the guarantee amount until player contributions exceed it. That's not a clerical error; that's the guarantee doing its job.
Fine Print
The $50 guarantee is provided by ElevateUT Disc Golf, the league platform — not by our local retail partner Disctracted. Any guarantee top-up is credited to the winner's Bonus Account, which is registration-only and cannot be withdrawn to PayPal or spent at disc shops. In other words: the Baron's bonus is real, but it stays in the Baron's economy.
The Series Ledger, Mid-Audit
Some numbers are looking very healthy. Others are looking like they need a bailout.
- RPA: Malachi Vazquez holds the top line at 217 points — the Cartel's kingpin, 15 events deep and still collecting.
- RAE: Kellan Brooke is running the cleanest books in the league at 241 points. That's not a lead; that's a fortress.
- RAH: Chris Fox at 229 points, proving that consistency is its own form of enforcement.
- RAF: Stephen Marks (140) and Shane Cooper (128) are separated by a single audit cycle — the tightest race in the Red Ledger Block.
- RAD: Kent Moos at 163 points, holding the Overspray Cartel's top tag with a grip that would make the Enforcers nervous.
- RAG: Blaine Callahan at 100 points, with a 80-point gap to second place. The Baron respects a monopoly.
A Desperate, Professional Request
The Ledger Is Empty
Last week's round produced zero entries. Zero. The Baron does not tolerate blank pages. The Enforcers are already asking questions I do not have answers to. If you have ever held a disc, if you have ever wanted to hold a disc, if you have ever watched someone hold a disc and felt a flicker of curiosity — the tee times are open, the river toll is open, and the booth is open. I am contractually obligated to narrate this season, and I would very much like to close the books with numbers in them. Come throw plastic at metal. It's fun. The sponsors told me to say that, but for once, they're right.
A Note on the Ground You Stand On
Fort Buenaventura is championship ground: 21 holes, multiple Weber River crossings, the site of the 2021 Pro Worlds. It's the Baron's territory because it's the most valuable real estate in the series, and he collects a toll at every river crossing. The charcoal suit, the red tie, the ledger open on a picnic table — that's the aesthetic. No magic here. Just enforcers, ledgers, and a terrifying calm. The terms are simple: play the fort, pay the toll, file your score, stay in the outfit's good graces.
Thanks to Disctracted for being our local retail partner and keeping the discs in stock — a valued part of the operation. And a genuine, unironic thank you to ElevateUT Disc Golf, the 501(c)(3) non-profit that makes this league possible by growing the sport through better venues and better events. They build the courses. The Baron just keeps the books.
The Enforcers are watching. The trees are watching. The river is watching. Only your disc is oblivious. From the booth, I'm Flippy — and I'll be here, auditing every throw.
