The Blood Meridian was forged from the essence of every competitor who has fallen to the culling since the Deadlands first opened its cursed borders. Their spilled blood soaked into the frontier's earth and formed an eternal boundary - a red line that marks the threshold of survival. Those who cross it emerge on the side of the remembered; those who cannot cross it fade into the dust of the forgotten.

The Blood Meridian appears as a crimson line about a foot wide running through the heart of the Deadlands, glowing faintly with spectral light that pulses when competitors approach. The dust along its edges is permanently darkened as if soaked in ancient blood, and those who draw near report hearing faint whispers - the voices of all who have been claimed by the culling. The Meridian grows brighter and more solid as a competitor's rating rises, dimming when they falter.

The Blood Meridian serves as the Deadlands' final arbiter - the supernatural boundary that determines whether a competitor deserves to be remembered or forgotten. Crossing the Meridian is the ultimate proof of survival, marking the bearer as having solved the frontier's brutal equations and earned their place among those who persist.
