The Score You Can't Fake
Ghost Throws Follow Me Home
Aspects refreshed Aug 01, 2026
The Midnight Fairway was created when the first Blockbuster store stayed open past closing to host an emergency late-night disc golf tournament in the parking lot. The neon signs flickered into the asphalt, creating a temporary fairway that the Chaintrix absorbed into its VHS substrate. Now any league can access this liminal space where normal survival rules don't apply - but only when the tracking lines go off-center.
The Midnight Fairway exists in a temporal distortion field, playing crucial sequences repeatedly until a player breaks the pattern with a perfect round. It absorbs excess neon energy from the Chaintrix, making it the brightest location in the simulation - players who enter emerge with their Blockbuster membership temporarily boosted as phosphor glow clings to them. On this fairway, scores invert - what you throw appears as its opposite. Additionally, every player who ever missed a league event has a ghost throw lingering here, interfering with current players' shots.
The Midnight Fairway serves as the Chaintrix's Truth Verifier - when player ratings are disputed, this is the only space where the honest score hidden beneath the simulation's editing becomes visible. It manifests the series tagline 'your rating was never real' into literal reality, where score inversion reveals what your performance truly was. It's both a last-chance refuge and a dangerous trap where everything you thought you knew about your standing gets turned upside down.
