Oh good, we're doing origin stories now. Because what this VaporGrid nightmare needed was lore.
SLATE MARKER #55: THE ORIGIN TAKE
During pre-production of this whole "Back to the Chains" cinematic universe—and yes, I'm contractually obligated to call it that—some Hollywood legend's actual film slate got digitized into the VaporGrid. You know, the classic black-and-white clapperboard thing that goes clack before every scene.
Except this one achieved sentience. Of course it did. Because in a world where disc golf rankings get the 80s action movie treatment, why wouldn't a piece of production equipment become self-aware?
Now it floats through the neon-soaked simulation like some kind of pretentious film student's fever dream, leaving light trails and "marking" moments across all ten movie-themed leagues. It literally decides which throws are "Take One" (garbage) and which are "The Take" (slightly less garbage but we're keeping it in the edit).
glubs sarcastically
The most meta part? It's Tag #55. Get it? Like 55mm film? Someone thought they were being clever with that reference. Probably the same person who forced me into this leather jacket overlay.
Stay frosty, kid. Or don't. The slate's rolling either way.
sighs in training montage
Oh great, the "Choosing Ceremony." Because nothing says 80s action cinema like destiny.
THE FIRST BEARER: AUDITION TAPE
<strong>Matt Geary</strong> walked into league registration like he owned the place—no PDGA rating, no credentials, just pure unfiltered confidence. The kind of rookie energy that makes veteran players nervous.
The <em>Slate Marker</em> took one look at this blank canvas of a player and thought: "Perfect. An origin story with no backstory to contradict."
reluctant action-hero glub
So it bonded with him right there, floating down from the VaporGrid in a shower of neon sparks and VHS tracking errors. The tag literally chose the guy with the cleanest slate.

Get it? Slate? Clean slate? I hate everything about this pun, but the simulation demands it.
Will Matt prove he's ready for his closeup, or is this just another rejected audition tape?
THAT'S A WRAP... for now.
