Fracture Index

The Fracture Index originated during the Great Digital Migration when the Bureau transferred decades of analog player records to digital systems. Some files were damaged during transit, and the corrupted data began spreading through interconnected records like a digital virus, infecting players who shared competitive histories, attendance patterns, or league affiliations with the original damaged files. The Bureau attempted quarantine, but the damage had already spread beyond containment.

The corrupted data appears as spreading dark veins across the player's Bureau file - visible evidence that the record has been compromised. The fractures contain contradictory information: scores that don't match documented outcomes, attendance records listing events the player never attended, and clearance levels that shift between views. Every attempt to access the file reveals different inconsistencies, leading observers to question whether the file is actively changing or their own perception is being manipulated. The Bureau has officially declared the corruption non-contagious but refuses to explain how they know this.

Fracture Index holders exist in a state of competitive uncertainty - their results cannot be fully trusted because the record itself is unreliable. Other players cannot determine if a Fracture Index holder's surprising victories are genuine skill, manipulated data, or simply corrupted records producing false outputs. This makes them simultaneously intriguing and dangerous: bet against them and you might be underestimating a hidden threat, bet with them and you might be trusting broken data.
