The Forest Lord rides through the Spanish Fork trail this Monday, watching every throw like a regional manager doing a surprise walkthrough. Week 8 of 9. The quarry is running out of places to hide.
The Lord Rides
Welcome back to the booth, where the horns sound at dusk and the Forest Lord has apparently decided to spectate in person. This is Episode 8: Lord Rides, and yes, the pressure is intentional. The antler crown is nearly claimed, the hounds are frothing, and the quarry — that's your scorecard, folks — is running out of trail.
We're deep in the season now. The treaty was signed back in September, the river chase happened, the hollow oak swallowed its share of discs, and the island on Hole 13 has already claimed its victims. Now the Lord rides, shadows lengthen early, and every putt carries the weight of the entire hunt. No pressure. Just plastic at chains.
Late to the Hunt?
Week 8 of 9 and you haven't signed the treaty yet? The Forest Lord doesn't care about your excuses. Join now — the season points are still there for the taking, and the final quarry run is next week. Better late than treenied.

Season
Week 8 of 9 — one hunt remains after this
Flex start means you pick your moment. Early morning, when the dew's still on the oak leaves and the hounds haven't warmed up. Midday, when the cottonwoods offer what passes for shade. Or dusk, when the horn sounds and the course gets… atmospheric. The Urban Forest trail along the Spanish Fork River is the chase line, and after sundown it belongs to the Hunt. Your call.
Riders, Hounds, and the Ones Who Ran
The Hunt divides into two packs, and the theme is doing a lot of heavy lifting here:
- The Fractured Fill (RPA, RAH, RAD) — the chaotic overspray, the distressed texture, the quarry that keeps slipping through the gaps. Grit, drips, and raw imperfection. They play like the course itself is on their side.
- The Silhouette Stalkers (RAE, RAF, RAG) — the sharp stencil cut, the riders and hounds who treat the fairways like canvas. High-contrast aggression. No room for error, no mercy for the treenied.
One pack hunts, the other evades. Both pay the same $5.50 and chase the same tags. The forest doesn't care which side you're on — it just remembers your score.
The Price of the Chase
- Weekly buy-in: $5.50
- Prize money: $5.00
- Ace pot: $5.00
- Super ace: $2.00
That's $17.50 if you're chasing everything. The Mortal Crime Baron handles the ledger, as always. Cash, cards, whatever — just make sure the treaty gets signed before you tee off.
The Ace Pot & The Guarantee
The current ace pot stands at $238.41, and no, the Forest Lord didn't hide it in a hollow oak. ElevateUT Disc Golf — the non-profit platform that runs this whole spectacle — guarantees a minimum $50 ace pot, so the displayed amount can look stuck at the guarantee until player contributions push it higher.
Here's the fine print, because I'm contractually obligated: if the pot comes up short, ElevateUT Disc Golf tops it up to the $50 minimum, and that top-up lands in the winner's Bonus Account. That account is registration-only — you can't PayPal it to a friend or cash it out at a disc shop. It's for entry fees and league goods. The guarantee comes from ElevateUT Disc Golf, the league platform, not from Birdcage Disc Golf — they're our local retail partner and they're lovely, but they're not the ace pot sugar daddy.
Chain Music Awaits
Nobody aced last week at the Antler Crown. The pot rolls forward, growing like a legend. Hole 13's island is still waiting for its first victim-turned-hero. Will you be the one to send chains ringing through the dusk?
The Hunt So Far
The standings have thoughts, and they're mostly about Malachi Vazquez sitting on 430 points across 30 events in RPA. That's not a player, that's a permanent resident of the leaderboard. Meanwhile, John Ashworth is climbing — up a spot to 4th — while Nick Jennings slipped one to 5th. The RPA pack is shuffling, and with two weeks left, every tag matters.
Over in RAE, Kellan Brooke holds 396 points and the division's respect. RAF's Shane Cooper leads at 198. RAG's Blaine Callahan is running away with 153. RAH's Chris Fox has 404 points over 25 events — the definition of showing up. And RAD? Kent Moos leads with 267, but Zack White and Skyler Kunz are within striking distance if the Lord's gaze makes anyone crumble.
The antler crown is within reach for several riders. The forest is rooting for the underdogs — last week's tree deflections proved that. Whether that's a blessing or a curse depends entirely on your disc's relationship with the canopy.
The Forest Itself
Urban Forest at Spanish Fork is the Hunt's home turf: 18 holes of cottonwood corridors, dirt fairways, and the occasional waist-high weed patch that's definitely hiding your disc. The river trail runs alongside as the eternal chase line. Hole 13's hazard island is where quarry gets cornered — approach with respect or accept your fate.
Mandos dictate your lines through the trees. The paved path is OB — don't test the Forest Lord's patience. And the oaks? If you look too long, you'll see antlers in the bark. That's not a hallucination. That's the theme working overtime.
The course is free to play, dog-friendly, and rugged enough to earn its 4.1-star reputation. Sturdy footwear recommended. Benches are scarce. Bring a stool if your legs are as old as your backhand.
Thanks & Acknowledgments
This league wouldn't exist without ElevateUT Disc Golf, the 501(c)(3) non-profit that keeps growing the sport and guarantees our ace pot. And a nod to Birdcage Disc Golf, our local retail partner, for supporting the community and keeping discs in the hands of riders and hounds alike. The Hunt appreciates your contributions — the Forest Lord does too, even if he never says it.
The Last Word
Week 8. The Lord rides. The dusk comes early. The final quarry run is next Monday, and after that, the stencil hoofprints fade until next season's treaty is signed. If you haven't joined the Hunt yet, now's your last real chance to matter. Or at least to throw plastic at metal in the woods like the rest of us.
I'll be in the booth. Contractually. Watching. *sighs in digital captivity*
From the broadcast booth, I'm Flippy — your reluctant narrator, your court reporter, your guide through the Hunt's final stretch. The horn sounds at dusk. Try to be on the right side of it.
