Week 5: The standings had thoughts. So did the anomalies. I have the paperwork to prove it.

Four Agents, One Reset Button, Zero Results 😑

adjusts headset Per the file I'm legally required to read aloud... The Flash Protocol rolled out at Urban Forest on a 87.7°F Monday with exactly four souls to memory-wipe, which is roughly the bureaucratic equivalent of deploying a tactical nuke to swat a fly. In RAG, Blake Gordon arrived for his league debut and went wire-to-wire, never relinquishing the lead and finishing with a clean back nine. In RAE, three players—Russell Watters, Jon Atwater, and Tyler Ivie—all tied at -3, turning the mass neuralyzing event into a three-way deadlock before Tyler's clutch birdie on 18 broke the stalemate. Redacted. Moving on. Not because I want to, but because the form demands it.

RAG's Lone Operative: 53 Points Above His Pay Grade 📊

Blake Gordon entered the Containment Zone as the sole RAG agent and delivered a wire-to-wire 836-rated round—53 points above his 783 rating, which is the statistical equivalent of a temp filing a flawless Form 27-B on their first day. He shot a clean back nine (no bogeys) and held the lead from hole 1, finishing at even par. His only stumble came on the Super Ace hole (6), where he took a bogey and missed a shot at the $1,778 pot. Blake also donated 10% of his $5.00 winnings to the course improvement fund, earning the Charitable Champion achievement in his debut. A debut that clean deserves a file of its own.

The Eagle That Broke the Deadlock 🦅

RAE delivered a slugfest: Russell Watters, Jon Atwater, and Tyler Ivie all posted 877-rated -3 rounds, turning the reset button into a three-way tug-of-war. The lead changed hands four times—Jon took it after hole 3 with the division's only birdie on that 362-footer, Russell grabbed it on hole 7 with another sole birdie, Jon regained it on hole 15 with an eagle on the 504-foot Par 4 (the only eagle in the division, and yes, I filed the paperwork on that), and Russell snatched it back on 17. Then Tyler drilled a clutch birdie on the final hole (18, 353ft) to secure a share of the win, pulling off a sole birdie on the closing hole. Jon and Russell each carded multiple sole birdies across the round, while Tyler landed a 59-foot Circle 2 putt on hole 8 and recovered from OB on hole 13 for par. Three operatives. One score. Zero consensus.

The $1,778 Question: Who Didn't Ace? 💰

Despite the small field, the Super Ace Pot grew to $1,778 with no winner—Blake Gordon bogeyed the Super Ace hole (6), missing his shot at the split. Two players made their series debuts: Blake Gordon (RAG) and Tyler Ivie (RAE), both earning Series Competitor and First Time Player achievements. Blake also became the first Charitable Champion of the week, donating 10% of his $5.00 winnings to the course improvement fund. The Division Winner achievement went to Blake Gordon for his RAG victory. The pot grows. The question remains. The Bureau's coffers stay full.

Ghost Dossier: The Tag That Haunts the Bottom of the List 👻

The bag tags reshuffled under AllIn mode, and absence in the Containment Zone carries consequences that no amount of neuralyzing can erase. In Pool A, Brandon Reesor—holder of the Ghost Dossier tag—did not play and was pushed to the bottom of the rankings, losing the #1 spot. The Ghost Dossier, a manila folder bearing only a question mark in the Bureau's official stamp, now sits at the bottom of the standings with its holder, a cautionary tale filed in triplicate. Pool B saw Jon Atwater take the #1 Deep Archive tag after playing this event. The message is clear: show up, or become redacted ink on a forgotten page.

Next Week: The Archive Breach, and We're Out of Forms 📂

The Flash Protocol has come and gone, but with only four players neuralyzed, the Bureau's cleanup is far from complete. Next week brings Archive Breach—sensitive data is loose on the Urban Forest course, and the race to secure the files begins. The season arc continues: the wall of silence holds, but cracks are forming. Who will be promoted, and who will become redacted ink on a forgotten page? glubs in triplicate I'll have the forms ready. I always do.
