Week 3 · Iron Promise
The ink is dry on the Salt Lake Accords and the Queen has extended her offer. The court answered with three players. We're going to need a bigger frozen hall.
Two Time Tetons is the proving ground — nine holes under the Oquirrh snowline, played twice for eighteen. The first loop is the offer. The second loop is the mantle settling into your bones. The Queen doesn't blink, and if you're lucky, neither do you.
Cold Iron is a Friday flex-start league. Show up between 7:00 AM and 5:20 PM, throw your round, sign the Accords, and go home with frost in your lungs and a number on your bag. The course is short but technical — putters and midranges, island greens, and a triple mandatory on hole 8 that has personally ended friendships.
The Iron Legion carries the weight — RPA, RAH, and RAD divisions, the players who find strength in the gritty, unforgiving reality of the frozen ground. They are rusted chains and iron nails, endurance over elegance.
The Frost Sovereigns have accepted the Mantle — RAE, RAF, and RAG divisions, moving through the course with the silent authority of the Winter Court itself. Sharp, deadly, precise. Or they just throw better. One of those.
The ace pot comes with a $50 minimum guarantee from ElevateUT Disc Golf — the league platform, not the disc shop, before anyone writes a strongly worded letter. If the pot sits at the guarantee amount, it's because contributions haven't pushed past it yet; the top-up is credited to the winner's Bonus Account (registration-only, not withdrawable elsewhere).

Two weeks in, and the hierarchy is already ossifying. In the Iron Legion, Chris Fox holds the top of RAH with 49 points across three events — the man is practically forged. Malachi Vazquez sits at the summit of RPA with 50 points over four events, and Christopher Hamby leads the Frost Sovereigns' RAE division with 43. Kellan Brooke trails at 39, which is close enough that one bad round could shuffle the court.
The current episode is 'First Loop' — the court accepts the answer. The baskets feel harder, the chains sound sharper, and whispers circulate that the second loop carries a toll the first one never hinted at. Translation: it's week two, everyone's form is still thawing, and the standings are a frostbitten mess.
Don't let the Queen preside over an empty fairway. It's awkward for everyone involved, and I have to narrate it.
