Carrion Theorem
Vulture of the Leaderboard
Haunted by the Seventeen
Aspects refreshed Apr 27, 2026
The Carrion Theorem was first spoken by the original survivor of the Deadlands' first great culling - a competitor who watched seventeen rivals fall in a single afternoon and realized that survival wasn't about skill alone, but about understanding the math of others' failures. They whispered the theorem as they claimed the leaderboard, and now all who carry this name understand: someone must be the carrion that feeds your climb.
The Carrion Theorem appears as a weathered sheet of parchment covered in fading mathematical notations - the equations shift and reform constantly, showing different variables being solved for. The edges are charred as if from an ancient fire, and faint impressions of vulture feathers seem embedded in the surface. It weighs nothing but feels heavy when the bearer is in danger of being culled. When held to one's ear, it contains faint whispers of the culled.
The Carrion Theorem serves as both warning and weapon - bearers can sense when rivals are about to fall, allowing them to position for advantage while others collapse. However, the theorem also demands that the bearer eventually prove their own worth, not just feast on others' failures.
