The Slot Car Tribunal emerged from the Blockbuster corporate algorithm itself - when the VHS survival system was first conceived, executives needed a metaphor for competitive placement, and the ubiquitous 90s slot car race set became the perfect visual template for ranking players. The original prototype was a working arcade cabinet found in a closed video rental store, its plastic race track now spanning all 16 simulations.
Electric current flows through its racing lines, measuring player velocity and consistency across all 16 simulations. The tribunal exists as both a physical miniature race track visible to eliminated players and an algorithmic judgment system that renders verdicts in real-time. Its finish line is a rotating neon display showing current rankings, Blockbuster membership tiers, and pending cull notifications. When players enter competition, slot car controllers materialize in their hands - the speed they can achieve depends on their membership tier.
The Slot Car Tribunal serves as the Chaintrix's primary ranking mechanism - every league event is a race, and the tribunal renders verdicts based on speed, consistency, and competitive placement. Players cannot choose their path (the slot is fixed), only how fast they travel within it. Those who consistently finish ahead get promoted to higher tier tracks with more power; those who lag get demoted to slower configurations or disconnected entirely.
