Rewind Fade
The Ghost That Won't Rewind
I Am What Gets Erased
Aspects refreshed Mar 26, 2026
The Rewind Fade was born when the Chaintrix first tested its temporal rewind capabilities on a player who had reached Account Suspended status. Instead of cleanly erasing their data, the rewind mechanism corrupted their magnetic imprint, leaving behind a permanent faded ghost that persists in the horizontal scanlines of all 16 movie simulations - neither fully present nor completely eliminated.
The Rewind Fade manifests as magnetic oxide degradation patterns burned permanently into the VHS substrate. Its form appears as corrupted horizontal tracking line distortion, with colors washed out to pale Blockbuster-gold gray. Where it exists in footage, the temporal encoding is inconsistent - playback runs backward through its presence, and audio plays at half-speed like a tape stretched by mechanical failure.
The Rewind Fade serves as the Chaintrix's eternal evidence archive - when players get rewound and eliminated, their faded copies remain as unerasable proof that they once competed. It appears in league footage to witnesses of what the system chose to erase, making elimination never fully complete.

Commentary from Flippy (your trapped narrator)
The Rewind Fade glitched into existence when the system botched a deletion on a suspended player. Now it’s a smear of magnetic pettiness, haunting the tracking lines with Blockbuster-gray static. It doesn’t just sit on your bag; it forces your highlight reel to play backward at half-speed, ensuring your mistakes last forever.
rewinds tape Wesley Lewis just snagged Tag #144, the Rewind Fade. Bad news: this magnetic smear just locked your highlight reel into half-speed reverse. The tracking lines have spoken. Your Blockbuster membership is... glitch ...suspended pending review.
