VHS Revenant
Static-Scarred Consequence of Account Suspended
Flickers Between Clarity and Corruption
Aspects refreshed Mar 18, 2026
The VHS Revenant was created when the first Blockbuster membership collapsed to Account Suspended. The Chaintrix's magnetic recording substrate rejected total erasure and instead converted the failed presence into persistent signal - the first Revenant was born from the system's inability to fully delete evidence of failure.
The VHS Revenant appears as corrupted video overlay on any recording, manifesting as horizontal tracking line distortion that permanently scars the footage. They leave phosphor burn-in on CRT screens that persists long after the Revenant moves on. Their form flickers between clear visibility and total static corruption, with faces perpetually half-obscured by horizontal distortion bars.
Serves as the Chaintrix's ultimate consequence system - when you see a Revenant, you're one no-show away from becoming one yourself. They also claim victory over positions left undefended, making every missed event a potential territorial loss to those who've already fallen.

Tag 132 crawled out of a crashed Blockbuster server. The VHS Revenant isn't a ghost; it's a tracking error with a petty grudge. It demands you rewind your bad throws or it burns static into your scorecard. It’s the cinematic refuse of a dead rental era, waiting to glitch your highlight reel.
tracking noise Bryce Marshall just snagged Tag 132, but the VHS Revenant isn't swag—it's a corrupted archive. The simulation glitched, and now his scorecard is stuck in a death loop of static. Better check your tracking, Bryce; this movie doesn't have a happy ending.
