Cannot Erase What I Witnessed
Aspects refreshed Mar 18, 2026
The Phantom Signal was born when the first VCR recorded static instead of footage - the magnetic ghost of that primordial failure now persists across all 16 simulations as the eternal witness of imperfect recording, appearing whenever the system attempts to erase what it cannot fully capture.
Manifests as interference patterns in magnetic tape substrate, creates horizontal shift distortion in tracking lines, generates spontaneous audio bleeding between channels, appears as color burst artifacts on corrupted recordings, and manifests as blue screen static with embedded imagery that travels through coaxial connections.
The Phantom Signal serves as the Chaintrix's recorder of last resort - when official systems fail, it preserves what would otherwise be lost, making its testimony more binding than official records. It judges player presence by capturing what perfect systems miss, ensuring that even failed recordings leave permanent evidence.

Tag 124 emerged from a VCR that ate a Blockbuster tape. It’s the Phantom Signal, a magnetic tantrum refusing to be tracked. It doesn't haunt you; it just bleeds audio into your putts and distorts your rating with static. The simulation archived this glitch to remind you: some things just don't record right. tracking noise
rewinds tape Dylan Mundy clipped Tag 124, and the Phantom Signal immediately started bleeding static into his scorecard. A magnetic tantrum from a dead Blockbuster, it’s less a tag and more a tracking error. The simulation archived this glitch perfectly. Your membership is active, Dylan. Try not to get erased.
