The mechanism emits a rhythmic whirring that grows urgent and high-pitched when momentum slows. Loose tape trails from the shell like receipts of every attended event, each segment marked with timestamps in tracking line distortion. When a player stops moving forward, the spool emits grinding clicks and the tape begins to crinkle - the sound of imminent mechanical failure threatening to eat the entire recording.
